TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of coenzyme Q10 in early Parkinson disease: evidence of slowing of the functional decline.
Clifford W. Shults,David Oakes,Karl Kieburtz,M. Flint Beal,Richard H. Haas,Sandy Plumb,Jorge L. Juncos,John G. Nutt,Ira Shoulson,Julie H. Carter,Katie Kompoliti,Joel S. Perlmutter,Stephen G. Reich,Matthew B. Stern,Ray L. Watts,Roger Kurlan,Eric Molho,Madaline B. Harrison,Mark F. Lew +18 more
TL;DR: Coenzyme Q10 appears to slow the progressive deterioration of function in PD, but these results need to be confirmed in a larger study.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Coenzyme Q10 was safe and well tolerated in this population, but showed no evidence of clinical benefit, and the study was terminated after a prespecified futility criterion was reached.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nurr1 in Parkinson’s disease and related disorders
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Nurr1 deficiency in dopaminergic neurons is associated with the intracellular pathology in both synucleinopathies and tauopathies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-related decreases in Nurr1 immunoreactivity in the human substantia nigra.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that age‐related decline of DA phenotypic markers is associated with down‐regulation of Nurr1 expression in the SN, and confocal microscopic analyses of NurR1‐ir and TH‐ir fluorescence intensity revealed parallel decreases in Nurr 1‐ and Th‐immunofluorescence as a function of age.
