Journal ArticleDOI

Time Course of Evolution of Disability and Cause-Specific Mortality After Ischemic Stroke: Implications for Trial Design.

TL;DR: The results reaffirm use of the 3‐month mRS outcome in stroke trials and demonstrate translation of early disability gains into additional reductions in long‐term mortality without much erosion by non‐stroke‐related deaths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stroke genetics informs drug discovery and risk prediction across ancestries

Aniket Mishra, +551 more
- 04 Jan 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , a cross-ancestry GWAS meta-analyses of 110,182 patients who have had a stroke (five ancestries, 33% non-European) and 1,503,898 control individuals, identify association signals for stroke and its subtypes at 89 (61 new) independent loci: 60 in primary inverse-variance-weighted analyses and 29 in secondary meta-regression and multitrait analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Age and Glycaemic Control on the Association between Fibrinogen and Risk of Acute Coronary Events after Transient Ischaemic Attack or Stroke

TL;DR: The effect of age and glycaemic control on the relationship between fibrinogen and risk of acute coronary events supports the hypothesis of a causal effect of fibr inogen mediated via the permeability offibrin clot.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stroke: Working toward a prioritized world agenda

Vladimir Hachinski, +52 more
TL;DR: The Synergium was to devise and prioritize new ways of accelerating progress in reducing the risks, effects, and consequences of stroke by using a ‘Brain Health’ concept that enables promotion of preventive measures.
