TL;DR: It is shown that the use of new magnetic materials, such as the amorphous or the nanocrystalline, can improve large-current low-frequency operations, while preserving the smallest possible probe size.
Abstract: Current measurements in power electronics or in EMI domains require high-performance probes. These probes must have a very wide bandwidth, be insensitive to electromagnetic interferences, and be able to measure large direct and alternating currents (AC-DC) without distortion. This paper is limited to AC current probes. Various principles are reviewed, in particular those based on the current transformer (CT); their limitations are analyzed, and a solution based on a two-stage transformer are proposed to extend low- and high-frequency performance. It is shown that the use of new magnetic materials, such as the amorphous or the nanocrystalline, can improve large-current low-frequency operations, while preserving the smallest possible probe size. Various solutions are provided to improve high-frequency operations. Different developments are depleted; frequency and time-domain results are presented.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a long time and vanishing mutations limit of an integro-differential model describing the evolution of a population structured with respect to a continuous phenotypic trait.
Abstract: In this paper, we consider a long time and vanishing mutations limit of an integro-differential model describing the evolution of a population structured with respect to a continuous phenotypic trait. We show that the asymptotic population is a steady-state of the evolution equation without mutations, and satisfies an evolutionary stability condition.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the inflationary implications of interest bearing regional debt in a monetary union and showed that the distribution of the holdings of the regional debt reflects the commitment problem of the central bank.
Abstract: This paper studies the inflationary implications of interest bearing regional debt in a monetary union. Is this debt simply backed by future taxation with no inflationary consequences? Or will the circulation of region debt induce monetization by a central bank? We argue here that both outcomes can arise in equilibrium. In the model economy, there are multiple equilibria which reflect the perceptions of agents regarding the manner in which the debt obligations will be met. In one equilibrium, termed Ricardian, the future obligations are met with taxation by a regional government while in the other, termed Monetization, the central bank is induced to print money to finance the region's obligations. The multiplicity of equilibria reflects a commitment problem of the central bank. A key indicator of the selected equilibrium is the distribution of the holdings of the regional debt. We show that regional governments, anticipating central bank financing of their debt obligations, have an incentive to create excessively large deficits. We use the model to assess the impact of policy measures within a monetary union.

TL;DR: A definition of robustness for sequential circuits as a form of continuity with respect to disturbance variables and the characterization of the exact class of sequential circuits that are robust according to this definition are studied.
Abstract: Digital components play a central role in the design of complex embedded systems. These components are interconnected with other, possibly analog, devices and the physical environment. This environment cannot be entirely captured and can provide inaccurate input data to the component. It is thus important for digital components to have a robust behavior, i.e. the presence of a small change in the input sequences should not result in a drastic change in the output sequences. In this paper, we study a notion of robustness for sequential circuits. However, since sequential circuits may have parts that are naturally discontinuous (e.g., digital controllers with switching behavior), we need a flexible framework that accommodates this fact and leaves discontinuous parts of the circuit out from the robustness analysis. As a consequence, we consider sequential circuits that have their input variables partitioned into two disjoint sets: control and disturbance variables. Our contributions are (1) a definition of robustness for sequential circuits as a form of continuity with respect to disturbance variables, (2) the characterization of the exact class of sequential circuits that are robust according to our definition, (3) an algorithm to decide whether a sequential circuit is robust or not.
