TL;DR: In this article, the Navier-Stokes equations and wavelet revolution are discussed and a series of talks and preprints by Marie Farge and Paul Federbush are discussed.
Abstract: My interest in Navier-Stokes equations arose from the wavelet revolution. I was puzzled by (1) a series of talks and preprints by Marie Farge and (2) an intriguing paper by Paul Federbush entitled ‘Navier and Stokes meet the wavelets’. Both Marie Farge and Paul Federbush were convinced that wavelets could play an important role in fluid dynamics.

TL;DR: In this article, a new approach is introduced for the analysis and calculation of straight prismatic beams of piecewise constant cross-section under arbitrary loads, which can be called "exact" because it determines exact static and kinematic generalized quantities.
Abstract: A new approach is introduced for the analysis and calculation of straight prismatic beams of piecewise constant cross-section under arbitrary loads. This theory can be called “exact” because it determines exact static and kinematic generalized quantities. Moreover, contrary to classical theories, it is not limited to high-aspect ratio (i.e. relatively slender) beams.

TL;DR: This article emphasizes algebraic structures (groups and Hopf algebras of trees) that have recently received much attention also in the non-numerical literature and presents interesting relationships among them.
Abstract: B-series are a fundamental tool in practical and theoretical aspects of numerical integrators for ordinary differential equations. A composition law for B-series permits an elegant derivation of order conditions, and a substitution law gives much insight into modified differential equations of backward error analysis. These two laws give rise to algebraic structures (groups and Hopf algebras of trees) that have recently received much attention also in the non-numerical literature. This article emphasizes these algebraic structures and presents interesting relationships among them.

TL;DR: This paper presents libalf, a comprehensive, open-source library for learning formal languages libalf covers various well-known learning techniques for finite automata as well as novel learning algorithms.
Abstract: This paper presents libalf, a comprehensive, open-source library for learning formal languages libalf covers various well-known learning techniques for finite automata (eg Angluin's L*, Biermann, RPNI etc) as well as novel learning algorithms (such as for NFA and visibly one-counter automata) libalf is flexible and allows facilely interchanging learning algorithms and combining domain-specific features in a plug-and-play fashion Its modular design and C++ implementation make it a suitable platform for adding and engineering further learning algorithms for new target models (eg, Buchi automata)
