Abstract: In this paper an ultra-wideband filter is designed using periodic defected ground structures as low pass filter and Slot SRRs in the conducting strip as a band reject filter to prevent interference from WLAN. The high pass characteristic is obtained by an interdigital capacitor in the conducting strip. The average insertion loss is 1.6 dB in the passband. The band stop filter rejects frequencies from 5.21 GHz to 5.9 GHz with maximum rejection being -33.46 dB at 5.4 GHz and stopband rejection is upto -68.61 dB and -60dB in the upper and lower stop-bands respectively. Keywords-communication systems, ultrawideband technology, microwave filters, SRRs, WLAN.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of agitator speed on simultaneous fermentation and extraction of ethanol in the presence of ethyl benzene as solvent has been investigated, and it was observed that an increase in agitators speed decreased ethanol production under a solvent-free system.
Abstract: In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to study the effect of agitation on simultaneous fermentation and extraction of ethyl alcohol in the presence of ethyl benzene as solvent. Three separate studies, viz. agitation of both the aqueous and non-aqueous phases at the same rotational speed of agitator (the range being 100–300 rpm), agitation of the non-aqueous phase keeping the aqueous phase static and agitation during fermentation in the absence of solvent, were carried out. In each case, Sacchoromyces cerevisiae was used as the microorganism in the production media with 10% (w/v) glucose as substrate at 30°C. It was observed that, in general, an increase in agitator speed decreased ethanol production under a solvent-free system. Under the aqueous phase static and organic phase agitated conditions, the maximum yield of ethanol in aqueous phase was obtained at a 200 rpm agitator speed after 12 h of incubation. It was further noticed that extraction of ethanol in the organic phase in...

01 Jan 2020TL;DR: The proposed concept of mobile SBSs which are connected to power grids located in the ceiling of the deployment region, thereby mitigating the co-tier interference as well as conserving power of the handsets by minimizing the distance between the SBS and the end-user handsets are proposed.
Abstract: With the increase in the number of wireless end users, the demand for high-speed wireless network has increased by multiple folds. Moreover, most of the data traffic is observed to be generated from the indoor environment. Hence, researchers have come up with the solution of deploying Small Base Stations (SBSs) in the indoor environment, which proves to be immensely effective in providing the last mile connectivity. However, since the deployment of the SBSs is unplanned, there exists a high chance of co-tier interference, which might be mitigated by transmission power control but at the cost of degraded quality of service for some of the end users. Hence, in this work, we propose the concept of mobile SBSs which are connected to power grids located in the ceiling of the deployment region. The mobile SBSs position themselves at the received signal strength-based centroids of the end user clusters, thereby mitigating the co-tier interference as well as conserving power of the handsets by minimizing the distance between the SBS and the end-user handsets. To enhance the security of the system, the SBSs are considered to form a closed group. The proposed system requires about 13% lesser number of SBSs while enhancing the end-user coverage by 9.3%. Moreover, about 10% improvement has been observed in terms of cumulative throughput for mobile SBSs compared to fixed SBSs. Thus, the deployment of mobile SBSs proves to be more effective compared to the fixed SBSs for indoor communication.

TL;DR: A simulator has been developed based on the formal specification to automatically detect inconsistencies at the early stage of design and the proposed methodology is applied and explained on a case study for substantiation of the approach.
Abstract: Development of UML/MARTE based modelling technique is gaining popularity day by day. UML/MARTE model driven approach can be used to describe non real time software systems as well as timing constraints for real time software systems. However it is essential to ensure consistency among the different UML diagrams as it affects the quality of software system. The novelty of this paper lies in proposing comprehensive framework for automatic verification of inter diagram consistency based on UML/MARTE models. A simulator has been developed based on the formal specification to automatically detect inconsistencies at the early stage of design. The proposed methodology is applied and explained on a case study for substantiation of the approach.

01 Dec 2011TL;DR: A feature based binary coded classification method is presented for detection of beats like Premature Ventricular Contraction, Bundle Branch Block and Normal based on mainly the QRS features resulting in fast and ready reference of arrhythmic disorder for standalone systems.
Abstract: Detection of Arrhythmic beats at the time of its occurrence is very essential for cardiac monitoring In this work a feature based binary coded classification method is presented for detection of beats like Premature Ventricular Contraction, Bundle Branch Block and Normal The method is based on mainly the QRS features A binary coded word is formed representing the status of each ECG beat comprising of five binary bits and the bit status is checked for the one by one to indicate the type of the beat The binary status word is formed using the temporal and morphological features of ECG signal This approach of logical classification reduces the complexity of detection because of its binary nature resulting in fast and ready reference of arrhythmic disorder for standalone systems Performance evaluation results indicate that the method has good accuracy and positive predictivity for all kind of test beats
