TL;DR: In this article, the minimum RSU height required in multi-lane highways to guarantee all-time 60 GHz line of sight (LOS) connectivity for different lanes was investigated and the effect of distance of RSU base from highway was also studied.
Abstract: The WiGig Alliance has recently introduced IEEE 802.11ay that standardizes the use of 60 GHz millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequency band for providing Gbps wireless connectivity on the move. However, for vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) systems using such standards, network reliability must be ensured when safety-critical signaling information is exchanged. The signals at mmWave frequencies are more prone to attenuation loss, penetration loss, weather effects and blockage. Therefore, placement of road side units (RSUs) is crucial for directional beam alignment, proper signal projection and vehicle tracking. This paper investigates the minimum RSU height required in multi-lane highways to guarantee all-time 60 GHz line of sight (LOS) connectivity for different lanes. The effect of distance of RSU base from highway is also studied. Further, numerical results analyze how both signal strength and overall system data rate wane with RSU height. These results are extended to other mmWave bands as well.

TL;DR: In this paper, an autonomous rural grid with induction generators in parallel is proposed for reliable supply of power and to harness the benefits of the grid, where the authors have simulated the performance of the rural autonomous grid under linear and nonlinear loads and under varying load conditions.
Abstract: Renewable energy potential in the form of wind or micro hydro are available in abundance at rural locations far away from city habitat. To harness this green energy the rugged induction generator has come up as a viable option. However, induction generator has change in reactive power requirement with change in load. This dynamic reactive power requirement is proposed to be met by a DSTATCOM and thereby achieve voltage regulation, load balancing and harmonic elimination. Further these small generators can provide full benefit to rural customers if they are connected on a grid. An autonomous rural grid with induction generators in parallel is proposed for reliable supply of power and to harness the benefits of the grid. A rural autonomous grid has been simulated in this paper using induction generators and a DSTATCOM on a MATLAB platform and study is made regarding the performance of the rural autonomous grid under linear and nonlinear loads and under varying load conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the exact solution of linear fractional relaxation-oscillation equation is obtained by the decomposition method of Adomian and also by He's variational method for fractional order α, for 1 < α ≤ 2.
Abstract: Exact solution of linear fractional relaxation-oscillation equation is obtained by the decomposition method of Adomian and also by He’s variational method for fractional order α, for 1 < α ≤ 2. Surface plots of the above solution are drawn for different values of fractional order α and time t. Amplitude of the oscillation increases with α but it decreases as time increases.© 2009 ASME

TL;DR: Deterministic methods for solving the Staff Transfer Problem have been found to be markedly inferior to local search methods for problem instances that are large enough to be of practical interest.
Abstract: The Staff Transfer Problem (STP) relates to human resource flow in large organizations that have offices and worksites at many locations. Specifically, it is concerned with the periodic transfer of a subset of employees to different postings, either at another location or in a different workgroup in the same location. STP can be viewed as a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP). Deterministic methods for solving the STP have been found to be markedly inferior to local search methods for problem instances that are large enough to be of practical interest. In earlier experimental investigations, it was demonstrated that GSAT(L) outperformed Simulated Annealing (SA) on randomly generated instances of the problem. It has been discovered subsequently that in most cases WALKSAT(L,p) is superior to GSAT(L) and all other SAT approaches.

TL;DR: A FPGA based hardware test-bed is developed to create an OFDM communication environment and measure relevant parameters in real channel condition and efficient and effective signal processing and conditioning.
Abstract: Development of wireless technologies has enhanced the need for high data rate support from physical layer. The design of the LTE physical layer (PHY) is heavily influenced by the requirements for high peak transmission rate, spectral efficiency, and multiple channel bandwidths. The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is based on using multiple narrow band sub-carriers spread over a wide channel bandwidth. The sub-carriers are mutually orthogonal in the frequency domain which mitigates inter symbol interference (ISI). For real channel communication the channel is prone to shadowing, path loss and fading. So for efficient communication the various channel condition should be analyzed. The main aim of the paper is to develop a FPGA based hardware test-bed to create an OFDM communication environment and measure relevant parameters in real channel condition. This system includes the application of FPGA based high speed data transceiver circuits and high speed communication protocol and efficient and effective signal processing and conditioning.
