TL;DR: An efficient method for solving MOTP to find fuzzy efficient and compromise solution using the qualities of three well known approaches i.e. fuzzy programming, goal programming, and interactive programming is presented.
Abstract: Multi-objective transportation problem (MOTP) is a special case of vector minimization linear optimization problem with equality constraints and the objectives are conflicting in nature. Due to the conflicting nature of objectives, no method is available to find single optimal solution for MOTP. All the methods can find only the compromise solution. This paper presents an efficient method for solving MOTP to find fuzzy efficient and compromise solution using the qualities of three well known approaches i.e. (i) fuzzy programming, (ii) goal programming, (iii) interactive programming. In this approach, fuzzy goals are decided by the decision maker (DM) for each objectives and membership functions are constructed for each objective. Then the method is developed using fuzzy set theory and the best quality of the developed method is that the decision maker is focussed only in the part of evaluation of the solution at each step using the acceptable terms and conditions. The present method is the extension of Waeil and Lee (Omega 34:158–166, 2006). To measure the efficiency of the method, some distance metric functions are used and it is verified by two numerical examples. The results are compared with previous reported work for the same numerical problems.

TL;DR: In this article, a single-stage non-isolated switched capacitor ac-dc converter for power factor correction (PFC) was proposed, which features reduced passive components, single switch, transformerless high voltage gain and improves the power factor, reduces total harmonic distortion, and voltage stress across the switch.
Abstract: This paper presents a single-stage nonisolated switched capacitor ac–dc converter for power-factor correction (PFC). This converter features reduced passive components, single switch, transformerless high voltage gain, and improves the power factor, reduces total harmonic distortion, and voltage stress across the switch. The peak current mode with a dynamic resonant perturbation scheme compensates the subharmonics that exist at zero crossing of the source current is implemented for PFC. In this paper, the principle of operation, large signal modeling of the circuit, and control method for the proposed PFC converter are provided.

12 Apr 2010TL;DR: Results are presented of a study conducted at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad regarding usage pattern of internet facilities by female students by mining the log files of proxy server.
Abstract: Female students are in minority in most of technical institutions in India and many infrastructural facilities and services are not targeted to them. Even though internet facilitates removal of geographical, social and cultural barriers, it does not seem to have any significant impact on academic pursuit of female students. Not many serious investigations have been conducted to study the usage pattern of internet by female students and its impact on their academic and social activities. This paper presents results of a study conducted at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad regarding usage pattern of internet facilities by female students. This study has been done by mining the log files of proxy server for three months. This period included two test and one semester examination weeks. Results of mining are summarized below: • Approximately 3000 websites were visited and majority of them were non-academic websites. A classification schema for those websites is proposed. • Only 13% of internet users are female students and out of which only 11% use internet. • Dominant use (63%) of the internet is for Non- Academic purposes. This is true for students with excellent academic performance(CPI).

TL;DR: In this article, the photonic spin Hall effect based surface plasmon resonance sensor is reported to examine the sensitive detection of the biomolecules, and it is observed that the transverse spin-dependent shifts (SDS) can be modified if the refractive index in the sensing layer is changed by an extremely small amount.

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs)-loaded hydrogel from synthetic and lab-made carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) using bamboo as a raw material.
Abstract: The present investigation focuses on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs)-loaded hydrogel from synthetic and lab-made carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) using bamboo as a raw material. The Ag-NPs were made by in situ process by the reaction of CMC and epichlorohydrin in alkaline medium containing silver nitrate. CMC acts as a stabilizer and reducing agent in the formation of nanoparticles. The formation of Ag-NPs was confirmed by UV–Vis spectrophotometer, as an absorption peak around 425 nm was observed. The Ag-NPs antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (ATCC 433), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 1688) was calculated by agar disk diffusion technique method. The characterization of the Ag-NPs was done by FTIR, SEM, TEM, particle size analyzer and EDX. Ag-NPs obtained from lab-made CMC displayed a higher antibacterial action towards Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria as well as Gram-Positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis) as compared to synthetic CMC obtained from market.
