TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Modelling of Transport and Traffic Problems

TL;DR: The Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process is the simplest cellular automaton which captures the essential aspects of most transport and traffic phenomena and various generalizations of the ASEP are discussed.

Monotonic walks on a necklace and a coloured dynamic vector

TL;DR: Stochastic and deterministic versions of a discrete dynamical system on a necklace are investigated, which consists of a sequence of contours NSWE with nodes, i.e. the nodes are common points at W and E.

Towards an Agent-Based Proxemic Model for Pedestrian and Group Dynamic

TL;DR: The paper will briefly describe the first steps towards the definition of an agentbased model encapsulating in the pedestrian’s behavioural model effects capturing both proxemics and influences due to potential presence of groups in the crowd.

Traffic Phenomena in Biology

TL;DR: This chapter presents an overview of the common trends in the mathematical modeling of traffic-like phenomena in biology, which emphasize some dynamical features of the tracks, which makes biological traffic phenomena more exotic as compared with vehicular traffic.

Indexing future trajectories of moving objects in a constrained network

TL;DR: This paper introduces a simulation-based prediction model based on graphs of cellular automata, which makes full use of the network constraints and the stochastic traffic behavior, and focuses on real life environments where the objects move within constrained networks.
