TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Performance evaluation of road traffic control using a fuzzy cellular model

TL;DR: Results show that the introduced method allows the performance to be evaluated using imprecise traffic data, and the fuzzy definitions of performance measures are convenient for uncertainty determination in traffic control decisions.

Effects of speed deviation and density difference in traffic lattice hydrodynamic model with interruption

TL;DR: In this paper, an extended lattice hydrodynamic model is proposed by incorporating the effects of speed deviation, traffic interruption probability and the density difference between the leading and the following lattice.

Generalizations of Flows over Time with Applications in Evacuation Optimization

TL;DR: An algorithm is presented that computes lexicographically abstract maximum flows and is used to prove existence of abstract earliest arrival flows and the results in [Hof74] are of a theoretical nature and do not allow for a direct polynomial algorithm.

Evolutionary dilemma game for conflict resolution at unsignalized traffic intersection

TL;DR: In this article, a dilemma game is presented to study the crossing conflicts at unsignalized intersection, where each driver has two possible strategies: cooperation (driver who respects the right-hand priority rule) or...

A novel lattice hydrodynamic model considering the optimal estimation of flux difference effect on two-lane highway

TL;DR: In this article, the optimal estimation of flux difference effect was introduced to construct a new lattice hydrodynamic model for two-lane highway, and the authors found that the new consideration plays an important influence upon the stability of two-laneway traffic flow.
