TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Micro-Simulation Model for Assessing the Risk of Vehicle–Pedestrian Road Accidents

TL;DR: SAFEPED is a test platform for evaluating experimentally estimated drivers’ and pedestrians’ behavioral rules, and estimating accident risks in different traffic situations, and aims to analyze the design of existing and future black spots and to assess alternative architectural and environmental solutions in order to identify maximally efficient safety countermeasures.

Aircraft Ground-Taxiing Model for Congested Airport Using Cellular Automata

TL;DR: An airport surface aircraft model is developed based on the Nagel-Schreckenberg (NS) model, which is a car congestion model, and it considers the taxiing speed and the time histories of taxiing, particularly for a heavy traffic environment.

Cellular Automata Model for Work Zone Traffic

TL;DR: This paper calibrates the randomization probability from field data, which is determined by minimizing the square error between simulated travel time and observed travel time by using a trial-and-error method.

Effect of bottleneck on route choice in two-route traffic system with real-time information

TL;DR: It is shown that the dynamic transition occurs from the oscillating jam to the stationary jam with increasing blocking probability and the dependence of the travel time and mean density on the bottleneck’s strength is derived.

Bifurcation analysis of traffic flow through an improved car-following model considering the time-delayed velocity difference

TL;DR: In this paper, a new car-following model with consideration of time-delayed velocity difference is proposed to investigate the effect of time delayed velocity on traffic flow via bifurcation analysis.
