TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Disordered exclusion process revisited: some exact results in the low-current regime

TL;DR: In this article, the steady state of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process with inhomogeneous hopping rates associated with sites (site-wise disorder) was studied and a general method for calculating their first few lowest coefficients exactly was proposed.

Crowding and Pausing Strongly Affect Dynamics of Kinesin-1 Motors along Microtubules

TL;DR: This work employs an agent-based lattice gas model and concludes that kinesin-1 spends a significant fraction of its stepping cycle in a weakly bound state in which only one of its heads is bound to the microtubule.

Variable message sign and dynamic regional traffic guidance

TL;DR: This work analyzes the traffic guidance model based on VMS, and study the dynamic regional partition problem and the dynamic traffic guidance problem under real-time traffic conditions, and puts forward the architecture and two algorithms.

Analyzing the Impact of Trucks on Traffic Flow Based on an Improved Cellular Automaton Model

TL;DR: An improved cellular automaton model is proposed, which considers both the performance difference between passenger cars and trucks and the behaviour change of passenger cars under the impact of trucks, and the relative relationship of the space gap between car-following-truck and car- following-car is changeable at a certain value of occupancy.

Multi-class continuum traffic flow models: Analysis and simulation methods

TL;DR: In this paper, a new model (Fastlane) describes traffic as a continuum flow while accounting for different types of vehicles, which is reformulated in Lagrangian coordinates and analyzed and efficient simulation methods are developed.
