TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Explorative public transport flow analysis from uncertain social media data

TL;DR: A framework to detect human mobility transportation hubs and infer public transport flows from unstructured georeferenced social media data using semantic topic modeling and spatial clustering techniques is proposed.

A link queue model of network traffic flow

TL;DR: A deterministic queueing model of network traffic flow, in which traffic on each link is considered as a queue, which concludes that the model is physically meaningful, computationally efficient, always stable, and mathematically tractable fornetwork traffic flow.

Modelling of motorised two-wheelers: a review of the literature

TL;DR: In this paper, the most widely used transportation mode for short distance trips in many Asian and European countries because of its affordable price and flexibility in flexibility in the short distance trip is a two-wheeler.

Asymmetric Lane Change Rules for a Microscopic Highway Traffic Model

TL;DR: The CA traffic model by Lee et al is extended with asymmetric lane change rules and the presented ruleset is studied in simulations of two-lane and three-lane highways.

Steady-state properties of traffic flows

TL;DR: In this article, the role of the passing mechanism in traffic flows is examined and the passing rates that are proportional to the difference between the velocities of passing cars and the passed cars are considered.
