TLDR
A stochastic discrete automaton model is introduced to simulate freeway traffic and shows a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic.
Abstract
We introduce a stochastic discrete automaton model to simulate freeway traffic. Monte-Carlo simulations of the model show a transition from laminar traffic flow to start-stop- waves with increasing vehicle density, as is observed in real freeway traffic. For special cases analytical results can be obtained.

Simulation Strategies for Mixed Traffic Conditions: A Review of Car-Following Models and Simulation Frameworks

TL;DR: In this article, a review of commercially existing microscopic traffic simulation frameworks built to evaluate real-world traffic scenario is presented, where the significant contributions made by 2D models in evaluating the lateral and longitudinal vehicle behaviour simultaneously.

Analytical calculation of critical perturbation amplitudes and critical densities by non-linear stability analysis of a simple traffic flow model

TL;DR: In this article, an analytical study for the optimal velocity model with a stepwise specification of an optimal velocity function and a simple kind of perturbation is presented, which is shown to reproduce numerical results very well.

Prediction feedback in intelligent traffic systems

TL;DR: This paper studied dynamics of traffic flow with real-time information provided and the influence of a feedback strategy named prediction feedback strategy is introduced, based on a two-route scenario in which dynamic information can be generated and displayed on the board to guide road users to make a choice.

Cellular Automaton Modeling of the Interaction between Vehicles and Pedestrians at Signalized Crosswalk

TL;DR: Characteristics of mixed traffic on a road with a signalized crosswalk are investigated by cellular automaton modeling and there are two critical values for pedestrian flow for a large signal cycle value, whereas there is only one critical value when the signal cyclevalue is smaller than a critical value.

Traffic Simulation Framework - a Cellular Automaton based tool for simulating and investigating real city traffic

Paweł Gora
TL;DR: The TSF system is presented which is an information system for simulating a vehicular traffic in the real city road networks and is equipped with a comprehensive visualization which enables users to set and modify simulation parameteres and road network preferences.
