A simple method for the isolation and purification of total lipides from animal tissues.

TLDR
In this paper, the authors described a simplified version of the method and reported the results of a study of its application to different tissues, including the efficiency of the washing procedure in terms of the removal from tissue lipides of some non-lipide substances of special biochemical interest.

Microarray Analyses during Adipogenesis: Understanding the Effects of Wnt Signaling on Adipogenesis and the Roles of Liver X Receptor α in Adipocyte Metabolism

TL;DR: Microarray analyses identify subsets of genes whose expression is aberrant when differentiation is blocked through enforced Wnt signaling and demonstrate new metabolic roles for LXRα, which inhibits adipogenesis if inappropriately expressed and activated.

Shotgun lipidomics: multidimensional MS analysis of cellular lipidomes

TL;DR: Understanding the biochemical mechanisms underlying lipid-mediated disease states will be greatly facilitated by the power of shotgun lipidomics.

High-fat diet aggravates amyloid-beta and tau pathologies in the 3xTg-AD mouse model.

TL;DR: Low n-3:n-6 PUFA intake ratio increased insoluble tau regardless of total fat consumption, whereas high-fat diet incorporating a low n- 3: n-n- 6 PUFA ratio also increased soluble tau compared to controls.

Lipid synthesis, intracellular transport, storage, and secretion. I. Electron microscopic radioautographic study of liver after injection of tritiated palmitate or glycerol in fasted and ethanol-treated rats.

TL;DR: It is proposed that these particles represent lipoproteins which are formed in the endoplasmic reticulum, "processed" in the Golgi apparatus, and transported in vacuoles to the sinusoid surface to be discharged into the circulation.

Hepatic gene expression profiles in a long-term high-fat diet-induced obesity mouse model.

TL;DR: A transcriptional adaptation to long-term high-fat intake-induced obesity mouse model revealed a number of previously unappreciated regulatory molecules changed by the HFD and provided interesting information about the molecules involved in the development and maintenance of the obesity phenotype in vivo.

Preparation of lipide extracts from brain tissue.

TL;DR: A simple method is described for the preparation of extracts of total pure lipides from brain tissue by homogenizing the tissue with a chloroform-methanol mixture and washing free of non-lipide contaminants.

The quantitative estimation of cerebrosides in nervous tissue.

TL;DR: The values for cerebrosides found in the current literature include gangliosides, and other investigators (JOHNSON, MCNABB, and ROSSITER, 1950; CUMINGS, 1953; BLACKWOOD and CUMings, 1954) have neglected the ganglariosides.

Isolation of brain strandin, a new type of large molecule tissue component.

TL;DR: The isolation from brain tissue of a substance to which the name of strandin has been given for descriptive purposes is reported, which has the property of forming long strands that show perfect orientation under polarized light.
