A simple method for the isolation and purification of total lipides from animal tissues.

TLDR
In this paper, the authors described a simplified version of the method and reported the results of a study of its application to different tissues, including the efficiency of the washing procedure in terms of the removal from tissue lipides of some non-lipide substances of special biochemical interest.

Enzymic characterization and lipid composition of rat liver subcellular membranes.

TL;DR: The fatty acid pattern is more characteristic of the phospholipid species than of the membrane, and Inner mitochondrial membrane and plasma membrane are the two which differ most among the cytomembranes analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phospholipid model membranes. I. Structural characteristics of hydrated liquid crystals.

TL;DR: The size and shape of the particles as well as the degree of birefringence and the extent to which negative stain penetrates between the lamellae during electron microscopy were characteristic of the various phospholipid species used.

Influence of pollen nutrition on honey bee health: do pollen quality and diversity matter?

TL;DR: The results support the idea that both the quality and diversity (in a specific context of pollen can shape bee physiology and might help to better understand the influence of agriculture and land-use intensification on bee nutrition and health.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in sediments and mussels of the western Mediterranean sea

TL;DR: In this paper, the distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has been investigated in superficial sediments and mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) of the western Mediterranean sea (French Riviera, Corsica, Sardinia).

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry body composition model: review of physical concepts

TL;DR: A thorough understanding of DXA physical concepts provides a basis for appropriate interpretation of measurement results and stimulates many new and important research questions.

Preparation of lipide extracts from brain tissue.

TL;DR: A simple method is described for the preparation of extracts of total pure lipides from brain tissue by homogenizing the tissue with a chloroform-methanol mixture and washing free of non-lipide contaminants.

The quantitative estimation of cerebrosides in nervous tissue.

TL;DR: The values for cerebrosides found in the current literature include gangliosides, and other investigators (JOHNSON, MCNABB, and ROSSITER, 1950; CUMINGS, 1953; BLACKWOOD and CUMings, 1954) have neglected the ganglariosides.

Isolation of brain strandin, a new type of large molecule tissue component.

TL;DR: The isolation from brain tissue of a substance to which the name of strandin has been given for descriptive purposes is reported, which has the property of forming long strands that show perfect orientation under polarized light.
