Journal ArticleDOI
A novel mode of operation of SLC22A11: Membrane insertion of estrone sulfate versus translocation of uric acid and glutamate
TL;DR: The results establish that SLC22A11 provides entirely different transport mechanisms for E3S and UA, and that E2S must not be used as a substitute for UA to assay the function of SLC 22A11, and supports the notion that the reverse process, extraction from the membrane, is also catalyzed by the carrier.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gout, not hyperuricemia alone, impairs left ventricular diastolic function
Jing-Chi Lin,Chun-Liang Lin,Chun-Liang Lin,Mien-Cheng Chen,Pey-Jium Chang,Shih-Tai Chang,Chang-Min Chung,Kuo-Li Pan,Kuo-Li Pan +8 more
TL;DR: Gout, not hyperuricemia alone, is associated with LV diastolic dysfunction and LA volume enlargement.
Journal ArticleDOI
The place of musculoskeletal ultrasonography in gout diagnosis.
TL;DR: This review will present the main US findings in gout, the utility of the method in diagnosis and treatment response, and comparison with other imaging techniques in terms of sensibility and specificity of the methods for this pathological situation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Human and Economic Burden of Difficult-to-Treat Gouty Arthritis
TL;DR: Gouty arthritis, one of the most painful and common forms of adult arthritis, is caused by monosodium urate crystal deposits in joints, most often in the lower extremities, which trigger an inflammatory response leading to acute flares characterized by a rapid onset of pain, warmth, swelling, and redness in involved joints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subconjunctival urate crystals: a case report.
TL;DR: Because subconjunctival urate crystals occur only rarely, ophthalmologists should be aware of this potential, particularly in patients with gout, because of its potential to cause gouty tophi.

A Laboratory manual
TL;DR: To develop a program to print the barcodes using two commonly uses command sets and hence evaluates their ease of use for such applications, students should be able to program dot matrix printers, by manipulating bit level information and ink jet printers using page description language, such as PCL.
