Journal ArticleDOI
Dose-response association of uncontrolled blood pressure and cardiovascular disease risk factors with hyperuricemia and gout.
Stephen P. Juraschek,Lara C. Kovell,Edgar R. Miller,Edgar R. Miller,Allan C. Gelber,Allan C. Gelber +5 more
TL;DR: With one in three people affected by hyperuricemia among those with several CVD risk factors, physicians should consider their anti-hypertensive regimens carefully and potentially screen for hyperuricaemia or gout.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost effectiveness analysis of HLA-B*58:01 genotyping prior to initiation of allopurinol for gout.
TL;DR: Routine testing for HLA-B*58:01 in order to reduce the incidence of adverse drug reactions in patients being prescribed allopurinol for gout is unlikely to be cost- effective in the UK; however testing is expected to become cost-effective with reductions in the cost of genotyping, and with the future availability of cheaper, generic febuxostat.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum urate is not associated with coronary artery calcification: the NHLBI Family Heart Study.
TL;DR: Replicating the methods used to demonstrate an association of SUA with carotid Atherosclerosis did not reveal any association between SUA and CAC, suggesting that SUA likely does not contribute to atherosclerosis through effects on arterial calcification.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of bariatric surgery on gout: a comparative study
Héctor Romero-Talamás,Christopher R. Daigle,Ali Aminian,Ricard Corcelles,Stacy A. Brethauer,Philip R. Schauer +5 more
TL;DR: The frequency of early postoperative gout attacks after bariatric surgery is significantly higher than that of patients undergoing other procedures, however, the incidence decreases significantly after the first postoperative month up to 1 year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in toll-like receptor (TLR)4–NFκB–IL1β signaling in male gout patients might be involved in the pathogenesis of primary gouty arthritis
TL;DR: TLR4–NFκB-interleukin1β–IL1β signaling might play a crucial role in the development of acute inflammation in primary gout patients.

A Laboratory manual
TL;DR: To develop a program to print the barcodes using two commonly uses command sets and hence evaluates their ease of use for such applications, students should be able to program dot matrix printers, by manipulating bit level information and ink jet printers using page description language, such as PCL.
