Practitioner review: When parent training doesn't work: theory-driven clinical strategies.

TL;DR: It is held that social learning theory remains the core of effective parent training interventions, but that ideas from attachment theory, structural family systems theory, cognitive-attribution theory, and shared empowerment/motivational interviewing can each greatly enrich the practitioner's ability to help bring about change in families who are stuck.

Self-system therapy as an intervention for self-regulatory dysfunction in depression: a randomized comparison with cognitive therapy

TL;DR: There was no overall difference in efficacy between treatments, but patients whose socialization history lacked an emphasis on promotion goals showed significantly greater improvement with SST and SST patients showed a greater reduction in dysphoric responses to promotion goal priming than did CT patients.
