Predicting counseling center clients' response to counseling: A 1-year follow-up

TL;DR: In this paper, a follow-up survey mailed 10 months after termination to 542 clients who received counseling at a university counseling center resulted in 207 (43%) returned surveys, and the likelihood of clinically significant change depended on the number of sessions received but not in a linear, "more is always better" fashion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Client interpersonal and cognitive styles as predictors of response to time-limited cognitive therapy for depression.

TL;DR: It was found that clients' interpersonal style, particularly an underinvolved style, was predictive of treatment outcome, and the impact of this style on outcome was mediated through the therapeutic alliance.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Comparison of Rational Versus Empirical Methods in the Prediction of Psychotherapy Outcome.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors replicated the comparison of empirical and rational methods, while adding an additional layer of effect size analyses to further clarify predictive accuracy, and found that the rational method had significantly lower overall predictive accuracy due to its high percentage of false negative predictions.

Exploring group process

TL;DR: In this paper, two text analytical approaches are applied to mutually support possible findings: conversation analysis as a qualitative tool and quantitative computer assisted text analysis following the therapeutic cycles model (TCM).
