Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiological study of high cancer among rural agricultural community of Punjab in Northern India.

TL;DR: A comparison of the characteristics of randomly selected individuals, from the villages where a cancer case existed or death due to cancer had occurred in last 2 years, revealed that involvement in cultivation, pesticide use, alcohol consumption and smoking were more common in Talwandi Sabo as compared to Chamkaur Sahib.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implications for the origin of GRB 051103 from LIGO observations

J. Abadie, +574 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of a LIGO search for gravitational waves (GWs) associated with GRB 051103, a short-duration hard-spectrum gamma-ray burst (GRB) whose electromagnetically determined sky position is coincident with the spiral galaxy M81, which is 3.6 Mpc from Earth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymorphisms in the DNA repair genes XRCC1, APEX1, XRCC3 and NBS1, and the risk for lung cancer in never- and ever-smokers.

TL;DR: The results show that the genetic variation in XR CC1, XRCC3 and NBS1 influence lung cancer susceptibility among women, and that combinations of risk alleles in the two HR genes can enhance the effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Search for gravitational waves associated with gamma-ray bursts during LIGO science run 6 and Virgo science runs 2 and 3

J. Abadie, +807 more
TL;DR: The results of a search for gravitational waves associated with 154 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) that were detected by satellite-based gamma ray experiments in 2009-2010, during the sixth LIGO science run and the second and third Virgo science runs are presented in this article.
