TL;DR: This study provides a good reference for future preparation of carbon-based lightweight microwave absorbing materials but also broadens the application of such kinds of metal-organic frameworks.
Abstract: A novel FeCo nanoparticle embedded nanoporous carbon composite (Fe-Co/NPC) was synthesized via in situ carbonization of dehydro-ascorbic acid (DHAA) coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles encapsulated in a metal-organic framework (zeolitic imidazolate framework-67, ZIF-67). The molar ratio of Fe/Co significantly depends on the encapsulated content of Fe3O4 in ZIF-67. The composites filled with 50 wt% of the Fe-Co/NPC-2.0 samples in paraffin show a maximum reflection loss (RL) of -21.7 dB at a thickness of 1.2 mm; in addition, a broad absorption bandwidth for RL < -10 dB which covers from 12.2 to 18 GHz can be obtained, and its minimum reflection loss and bandwidth (RL values exceeding -10 dB) are far greater than those of commercial carbonyl iron powder under a very low thickness (1-1.5 mm). This study not only provides a good reference for future preparation of carbon-based lightweight microwave absorbing materials but also broadens the application of such kinds of metal-organic frameworks.

TL;DR: An improved Fe/N/C catalyst derived from Fe(SCN)3, poly-m-phenylenediamine, and carbon black is presented, which exhibits excellent ORR activity and the maximal power density could exceed 1 W cm(-2).
Abstract: Fe/N/C is a promising non-Pt electrocatalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), but its catalytic activity is considerably inferior to that of Pt in acidic medium, the environment of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). An improved Fe/N/C catalyst (denoted as Fe/N/C-SCN) derived from Fe(SCN)3, poly-m-phenylenediamine, and carbon black is presented. The advantage of using Fe(SCN)3 as iron source is that the obtained catalyst has a high level of S doping and high surface area, and thus exhibits excellent ORR activity (23 A g−1 at 0.80 V) in 0.1 M H2SO4 solution. When the Fe/N/C-SCN was applied in a PEMFC as cathode catalyst, the maximal power density could exceed 1 W cm−2.

TL;DR: In this paper, the main advancements of the Beijing Climate Center (BCC) climate system model from phase 5 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) to phase 6 (CMP6) are presented, in terms of physical parameterizations and model performance.
Abstract: . The main advancements of the Beijing Climate Center (BCC) climate system model from
phase 5 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) to phase
6 (CMIP6) are presented, in terms of physical parameterizations and model
performance. BCC-CSM1.1 and BCC-CSM1.1m are the two models involved in CMIP5,
whereas BCC-CSM2-MR, BCC-CSM2-HR, and BCC-ESM1.0 are the three models configured for
CMIP6. Historical simulations from 1851 to 2014 from BCC-CSM2-MR (CMIP6) and
from 1851 to 2005 from BCC-CSM1.1m (CMIP5) are used for models assessment.
The evaluation matrices include the following: (a) the energy budget at
top-of-atmosphere; (b) surface air temperature, precipitation, and atmospheric circulation for
the global and East Asia regions; (c) the sea surface temperature (SST) in the
tropical Pacific; (d) sea-ice extent and thickness and Atlantic Meridional
Overturning Circulation (AMOC); and (e) climate variations at different timescales, such as the global warming trend in the 20th century, the stratospheric
quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO), the Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO), and the diurnal
cycle of precipitation. Compared with BCC-CSM1.1m, BCC-CSM2-MR shows
significant improvements in many aspects including the tropospheric air
temperature and circulation at global and regional scales in East Asia and
climate variability at different timescales, such as the QBO, the MJO, the diurnal cycle
of precipitation, interannual variations of SST in the equatorial Pacific,
and the long-term trend of surface air temperature.

TL;DR: The results showed that the biomass and catalase (CAT) enzymes activity of V. faba roots decreased under 5 μm PS-MPs whereas superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) enzyme activity significantly increased, and under the 100 nm PS- MPs exposure a significant decrease of growth was observed only at the highest concentration.
