TL;DR: The best classification accuracy is about 100% via 2, 5, and 10-fold cross-validation, which indicates the proposed method has potential in designing a new intelligent EEG-based assistance diagnosis system for early detection of the electroencephalographic changes.
Abstract: In this study, a hierarchical electroencephalogram (EEG) classification system for epileptic seizure detection is proposed. The system includes the following three stages: (i) original EEG signals representation by wavelet packet coefficients and feature extraction using the best basis-based wavelet packet entropy method, (ii) cross-validation (CV) method together with k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) classifier used in the training stage to hierarchical knowledge base (HKB) construction, and (iii) in the testing stage, computing classification accuracy and rejection rate using the top-ranked discriminative rules from the HKB. The data set is taken from a publicly available EEG database which aims to differentiate healthy subjects and subjects suffering from epilepsy diseases. Experimental results show the efficiency of our proposed system. The best classification accuracy is about 100% via 2-, 5-, and 10-fold cross-validation, which indicates the proposed method has potential in designing a new intelligent EEG-based assistance diagnosis system for early detection of the electroencephalographic changes.

TL;DR: Tumor-derived exosomal miR-222-3p is proposed to be an effective regulator in the polarization of tumor-promoting M2 macrophages and may be a biomarker of EOC.
Abstract: Cancer secreted exosomal miRNAs are emerging as mediators between tumor-stoma crosstalk. Here, we show epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC)-derived exosomes activated macrophages to a tumor-associated macrophage (TAM)-like phenotype with SOCS3/STAT3 pathway involvement, which could facilitate the progression of cancer. MiR-222-3p was enrichment in exosomes released from EOC cells and it could be transferred to macrophages. Overexpression of miR-222-3p in macrophages induced polarization of the M2 phenotype. Luciferase assay verified miR-222-3p targeted SOCS3 genes and expression of SOCS3 was decreased after transfection with a miR-222-3p mimic. Down-regulation of SOCS3 correlated with an increased expression of STAT3 activation. MiR-222-3p could be detected in the exosomes from serum and its levels were related to EOC. These observations propose tumor-derived exosomal miR-222-3p is an effective regulator in the polarization of tumor-promoting M2 macrophages and may be a biomarker of EOC.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel strategy was demonstrated to fabricate a luminescent lanthanide functionalized MOF by encapsulating Eu3+ cations in the pores of MIL-53-COOH (Al) nanocrystals.
Abstract: A novel strategy was demonstrated to fabricate a luminescent lanthanide functionalized MOF by encapsulating Eu3+ cations in the pores of MIL-53–COOH (Al) nanocrystals. The Eu3+ incorporated sample shows excellent luminescence and good fluorescence stability in water due to the sensitization and protection provided by the parented framework. Subsequently, Eu3+ incorporated nanocrystals were developed as a highly selective and sensitive probe for detection of Fe3+ in aqueous solutions. In addition, the possible sensing mechanism based on cation exchange between Fe3+ and the framework Al3+ in MIL-53–COOH (Al) was discussed in detail. This is the first example for detecting Fe3+ in aqueous solutions based on a lanthanide functionalized nanoscale MOF. The good fluorescence stability in an aqueous environment, the low detection limit and the broad linear range, together with the nanoscale nature of this probe suggest it has potential for intracellular sensing and imaging of Fe3+.

TL;DR: In this article, a bifunctional MOF(2Fe/Co)/CA cathode with a high surface possessing area, and good electrocatalytic and photocatalytic activity, was proposed for the solar photoelectro-Fenton (SPEF) process.
Abstract: A novel bifunctional MOF(2Fe/Co)/CA cathode with a high surface possessing area, and good electrocatalytic and photocatalytic activity, was proposed for the solar photo–electro–Fenton (SPEF) process. The optimal nFe: nCo ratio was 2:1 for successfully introducing MOF(2Fe/Co) on the surface of CA, which is due to the specific interaction affinity of FeOOH between MOF(2Fe/Co) and CA. Continuous on–site generation of H2O2 through an oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) was achieved over the CA cathode. The electron transfer number (n) of the ORR with CA was 2.5 in the selected potential range. Moreover, the addition of MOF can behave as the active sites for enhancing the ORR activity and hence can increase the yield of the H2O2. Simultaneously, the photoinduced electron (ecb−) of MOF(2Fe/Co) efficiently in–situ decomposed H2O2 to form hydroxyl radicals (OH). The observation indicated that the ecb− is an efficient and new Fenton–like catalysts that is pH–independent. Efficient photo–electro–catalytic performance was exhibited when applied to degrade Rhodamine B (RhB) and dimethyl phthalate (DMP). Almost 100% RhB removal and 85% DMP removal were reached in 45 min and 120 min, respectively. The MOF(Fe/Co)/CA presented very low iron and cobalt leaching (<0.5 ppm) even in an acidic media, and it retained an efficient degradation efficiency in the wide pH range of 3–9.
