A microfluidics-based in vitro model of the gastrointestinal human-microbe interface.

TLDR
The ability of HuMiX to recapitulate in vivo transcriptional, metabolic and immunological responses in human intestinal epithelial cells following their co-culture with the commensal Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) grown under anaerobic conditions is demonstrated.

Lactic acid bacteria as probiotics for the nose

TL;DR: In this article, the potential probiotic properties and adaptation factors that are needed for a bacterial strain to optimally exert its beneficial activity in the respiratory tract are discussed. But despite convincing evidence from microbiome association and in vitro studies, the clinical evidence for oral or topical probiotics for common URT diseases such as chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) needs further substantiation.
