Preventive Effect of Cocoa Flavonoids via Suppression of Oxidative Stress-Induced Apoptosis in Auditory Senescent Cells

TL;DR: In conclusion, CPE inhibits the activation of senescence-related apoptotic signaling by decreasing oxidative stress in auditory senescent cells and Administration of CPE also decreased oxidative DNA damage in the auditorysenescent cells.

Polydopamine coated Au-Pt nanorods: Enhanced photothermal properties and efficient reactive oxygen scavengers.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dumbbell-shaped Au-Pt bimetallic nanorods (AuPtNRs) with biocompatible polydopamine (PDA) was used to obtain AuPt@PDA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Easy access of dihydrofluoresceins as advanced fluorescence turn-on probes for oxidative stress

TL;DR: In this article, a mild NABH4/I2 strategy was designed to easily reduce fluoresceins to dihydrofluorescein alcohols and acids, which showed great potentials for fluorescent imaging of subcellular oxidative stresses.

Direct acupuncture of nitric oxide by an electrochemical microsensor with high time-space resolution

TL;DR: In this paper , an electrocatalytic microsensor was designed and fabricated for the direct detection of NO within the time-space resolution, which can be used to trace the release pattern of NO by different cancer cell lines and have known its dynamics in tumor microenvironment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cytoprotective Effects of Cell-Permeable Bifunctional Antioxidant Enzyme, GST-TAT-SOD, against Cisplatin-Induced Cell Damage

TL;DR: The results suggest that GST-TAT-SOD might be a potential cytoprotective agent for cisplatin-induced side effects.

TL;DR: The pathways that regulate ROS homeostasis are crucial for mitigating the toxicity of ROS and provide strong evidence about specificity in ROS signalling.

Evaluation of the probe 2',7'-dichlorofluorescin as an indicator of reactive oxygen species formation and oxidative stress.

TL;DR: Data suggest that H2O2-Fe(2+)-derived oxidant is mainly responsible for the nonenzymatic oxidation of DCFH, which remains an attractive probe as an overall index of oxidative stress in toxicological phenomena.

Reconciling the chemistry and biology of reactive oxygen species

TL;DR: This review examines how target selectivity and antioxidant effectiveness vary for different oxidants and highlights areas where greater understanding is required on the fate of oxidants generated by cellular NADPH oxidases and on the identification of oxidant sensors in cell signaling.

Flow cytometric studies of oxidative product formation by neutrophils: a graded response to membrane stimulation.

TL;DR: The data indicate that the DCFH oxidation assay is quantitatively related to the oxidative metabolic burst of PMNL, and they strongly suggest that the reaction is mediated by H2O2 generated by the PMNL.
