Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of RNA bound to the TDP-43 ribonucleoprotein complex in the adult mouse brain.

TL;DR: The finding that TDP-43 binds to RNA that codes for genes related to synaptic function, together with the localization of T DP-43 protein at axon terminals, suggests a role for TDP -43 in the transport of synaptic mRNAs into distal processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

G9a influences neuronal subtype specification in striatum

TL;DR: A partial striatopallidal to striatonigral 'switching' phenotype in mice indicates a new role for G9a in contributing to neuronal subtype identity and suggests a critical function for cell type–specific histone methylation patterns in the regulation of behavioral responses to environmental stimuli.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shared neural coding for social hierarchy and reward value in primate amygdala.

TL;DR: It is shown that the primate amygdala encodes the hierarchical rank of individuals in the same neuronal ensembles that encode the rewards associated with nonsocial stimuli, whereas orbitofrontal and anterior cingulate cortices lack strong representations of hierarchical rank while still representing reward values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lrp4 in astrocytes modulates glutamatergic transmission

TL;DR: A critical role is revealed for Lrp4, in response to agrin, in modulating astrocytic ATP release and synaptic transmission in mice lacking low-density lipoprotein receptor–related protein 4, a protein that is critical for neuromuscular junction formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermosensory processing in the Drosophila brain

TL;DR: The results show how central circuits can combine signals from bidirectional opponent neurons to construct sensitive and robust neural codes in Drosophila.

Large-Scale Exome Sequencing Study Implicates Both Developmental and Functional Changes in the Neurobiology of Autism

F. Kyle Satterstrom, +201 more
- 06 Feb 2020 -
TL;DR: The largest exome sequencing study of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to date, using an enhanced analytical framework to integrate de novo and case-control rare variation, identifies 102 risk genes at a false discovery rate of 0.1 or less, consistent with multiple paths to an excitatory-inhibitory imbalance underlying ASD.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Transcription Factor TFEB Links mTORC1 Signaling to Transcriptional Control of Lysosome Homeostasis

TL;DR: TFEB is identified as a target of mTOR and a mechanism for matching the transcriptional regulation of genes encoding proteins of autophagosomes and lysosomes to cellular need is suggested.
