AICAR Enhances the Phagocytic Ability of Macrophages towards Apoptotic Cells through P38 Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase Activation Independent of AMP-Activated Protein Kinase

TL;DR: A novel mechanism by which AICAR increases macrophage-mediated phagocytosis of apoptotic cells by macrophages is revealed and it is suggested that A ICAR may be used to treat efferocytotic-related inflammatory conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physiological electrical signals promote chain migration of neuroblasts by up-regulating P2Y1 purinergic receptors and enhancing cell adhesion.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the naturally occurring EF in brain serves as a novel stimulant and directional guidance cue for neuronal chain migration, via up-regulation of P2Y1.
Dissertation

Dynamics of the cerebral microvasculature during the course of memory consolidation in the rat : physiological and altered conditions induced by hypertension and hypergravity

TL;DR: These findings identify ECA as a crucial neurobiological process underlying the formation and stabilization of remote memory and highlight the importance of vascular plasticity in modulating cognitive functions and suggest that the early structural changes within vascular networks constitute a permissive mechanism for the regulation of neuronal plasticity within cortical networks which support the formation of enduring memories.

Generalization in data-driven models of primary visual cortex

TL;DR: This model with its novel readout sets a new state-of-the-art for neural response prediction in mouse visual cortex from natural images, generalizes between animals, and captures better characteristic cortical features than current task-driven pre-training approaches such as VGG16.

Large-Scale Exome Sequencing Study Implicates Both Developmental and Functional Changes in the Neurobiology of Autism

F. Kyle Satterstrom, +201 more
- 06 Feb 2020 -
TL;DR: The largest exome sequencing study of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to date, using an enhanced analytical framework to integrate de novo and case-control rare variation, identifies 102 risk genes at a false discovery rate of 0.1 or less, consistent with multiple paths to an excitatory-inhibitory imbalance underlying ASD.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Transcription Factor TFEB Links mTORC1 Signaling to Transcriptional Control of Lysosome Homeostasis

TL;DR: TFEB is identified as a target of mTOR and a mechanism for matching the transcriptional regulation of genes encoding proteins of autophagosomes and lysosomes to cellular need is suggested.
