L-Amino Acids Elicit Diverse Response Patterns in Taste Sensory Cells: A Role for Multiple Receptors.

TL;DR: Calcium imaging of isolated taste sensory cells and taste cell clusters from the circumvallate and foliate papillae of C57BL/6J and T1r3 knockout mice indicated that synergistic and non-synergistic responses to L-amino acids and IMP are mediated by multiple receptors or possibly a receptor complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulation of motivation for food by neuromedin U in the paraventricular nucleus and the dorsal raphe nucleus

TL;DR: A progressive-ratio operant responding paradigm in combination with an assessment of cumulative food intake is used to evaluate the effects of NMU administration in rats, and implicate NMU signaling in the PVN and DRN as a novel regulator of motivation for high-fat foods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential susceptibility to chronic social defeat stress relates to the number of Dnmt3a-immunoreactive neurons in the hippocampal dentate gyrus.

TL;DR: In this article, the role of DNA methyltransferase 3a (Dnmt3a) in regulating neuronal proliferation and differentiation has been investigated in the hippocampus of mice, and it has been shown that DNA methylation via Dnmt-3a in hippocampus co-regulates adaptivity of the behavioral response to chronic social defeat stress, and set the stage for further experimental studies testing a mediating role of NMT in experience-dependent plasticity, neurogenesis and adaptation to severe stressors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential Expression of FosB Proteins and Potential Target Genes in Select Brain Regions of Addiction and Depression Patients

TL;DR: The first evidence of FosB gene expression in human HPC and PFC in these psychiatric disorders is provided, and data suggest that reduced ΔFosB in HPC could potentially underlie cognitive deficits accompanying chronic cocaine abuse or depression.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Structured Rehabilitation Protocol for Improved Multifunctional Prosthetic Control: A Case Study.

TL;DR: This protocol describes a structured rehabilitation method, which includes imitation, repetition, and reinforcement learning, and aims to assess if this method can improve multifunctional prosthetic control.

Large-Scale Exome Sequencing Study Implicates Both Developmental and Functional Changes in the Neurobiology of Autism

F. Kyle Satterstrom, +201 more
- 06 Feb 2020 -
TL;DR: The largest exome sequencing study of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to date, using an enhanced analytical framework to integrate de novo and case-control rare variation, identifies 102 risk genes at a false discovery rate of 0.1 or less, consistent with multiple paths to an excitatory-inhibitory imbalance underlying ASD.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Transcription Factor TFEB Links mTORC1 Signaling to Transcriptional Control of Lysosome Homeostasis

TL;DR: TFEB is identified as a target of mTOR and a mechanism for matching the transcriptional regulation of genes encoding proteins of autophagosomes and lysosomes to cellular need is suggested.
