Charles Benbrook
- 02 Feb 2016 -
- Vol. 28, Iss: 1, pp 3-3
TLDR
Glyphosate will likely remain the most widely applied pesticide worldwide for years to come, and interest will grow in quantifying ecological and human health impacts, according to published global pesticide use data.

Integrated metabolomics and transcriptomics reveal glyphosate based‐herbicide induced reproductive toxicity through disturbing energy and nucleotide metabolism in mice testes

TL;DR: In this article , the toxic effects of GBH on reproduction were investigated in mice exposed to 0 (control group), 50 (low-dose group), 250 (middledose group) and 500 (high-dose) mg/kg/day GBH for 30 days.

Down the River: Glyphosate Use in Agriculture and Birth Outcomes of Surrounding Populations

TL;DR: In this paper, an externality from the agricultural use of the most widely applied herbicide in human history (glyphosate) on birth outcomes of surrounding populations was identified.

Impact of Combined Exposure to Glyphosate and Diquat on Microbial Community Structure and Diversity in Lateritic Paddy Soil

TL;DR: In this paper , the short-term effects of combined exposure to GP and DQ on microbial diversity and community structure shifts were investigated in lateritic paddy soil from a tropical agricultural region (Hainan, China).

Natural Resistance of Sri Lankan Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Varieties to Broad-Spectrum Herbicides (Glyphosate and Glufosinate)

TL;DR: The emerged HRRs indicated varying responses of agro-morphological and yield characters across the type of herbicide and the variety, which have a higher potential in rice breeding programs and in developing HR rice varieties in future.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

TL;DR: One of the first specialized agencies of the United Nations to become active, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as discussed by the authors has elicited interest beyond the specialized field of agricultural economists.

Glyphosate: a once-in-a-century herbicide.

TL;DR: The use of this virtually ideal herbicide is now being threatened by the evolution of glyphosate-resistant weeds, and adoption of resistance management practices will be required to maintain the benefits of glyphosate technologies for future generations.

Concerns over use of glyphosate-based herbicides and risks associated with exposures: a consensus statement

TL;DR: GBHs are the most heavily applied herbicide in the world and usage continues to rise; Worldwide, GBHs often contaminate drinking water sources, precipitation, and air, especially in agricultural regions and regulatory estimates of tolerable daily intakes for glyphosate in the United States and European Union are based on outdated science.
