Association of age at menarche with cardiovascular risk factors, vascular structure, and function in adulthood: the Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns study.
Mika Kivimäki,Debbie A Lawlor,George Davey Smith,Marko Elovainio,Markus Jokela,Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen,Jussi Vahtera,Leena Taittonen,Markus Juonala,Jorma Viikari,Olli T. Raitakari +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the associations of menarcheal age with BMI and other cardiovascular risk factors in adolescence and adulthood in a population-based sample of 794 female adolescents aged 9-18 y at baseline and again 3 and 6 y later.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does maternal weight gain in pregnancy have long-term effects on offspring adiposity? A sibling study in a prospective cohort of 146,894 men from 136,050 families
TL;DR: In normal-weight mothers, most of the association between MWG and later offspring BMI is explained by shared familial and early environmental characteristics, whereas evidence indicates a contribution of intrauterine mechanisms in overweight and obese women.
Journal Article
Missed appointments in general practice: retrospective data analysis from four practices.
Richard D Neal,Debbie A Lawlor,Victoria Allgar,M Colledge,S Ali,A Hassey,C Portz,Andrew J. Wilson +7 more
TL;DR: The likelihood of someone missing at least one appointment was independently associated with being female, living in a deprived area, and being a young adult, and the extent of this association was the same across all four practices.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, detailed molecular profiles (87 metabolic measures and 37 cytokines) were measured for up to 4260 women (24-49 years, 322 pregnant) from three population-based cohorts in Finland.
