Inflammation, oxidative stress, glomerular filtration rate, and albuminuria in elderly men: a cross-sectional study

TL;DR: The data indicate that cytokine-mediated inflammation is involved in the early stages of impaired kidney function in the elderly, but that cyclooxygenase- mediated inflammation does not play a role at this stage, and the unexpected association between higher eGFR/lower albuminuria and increased F2-isoprostanes in urine merits further studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal Trends in Incidence of Myocardial Infarction and Ischemic Stroke by Socioeconomic Position in Sweden 1987–2010

TL;DR: There was a decrease in myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke incidence over time among men but no significant change for women, and social inequalities in incidence of cardiovascular diseases were stable over time for both men and women.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sortilin receptor 1 predicts longitudinal cognitive change

TL;DR: SNP set risk scores predicted spatial and episodic memory trajectories and benefited men's versus women's performance up to age 75 but with accelerating declines, suggesting SORL1 is associated with cognitive aging, and might contribute differentially to change in men and women.
Journal ArticleDOI

- 19 Dec 2017 -
TL;DR: The GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries as mentioned in this paper.
