Journal ArticleDOI
Gender and effects of a common genetic variant in the NOS1 regulator NOS1AP on cardiac repolarization in 3761 individuals from two independent populations
Martin D. Tobin,Mika Kähönen,Peter S. Braund,Tuomo Nieminen,Cother Hajat,Maciej Tomaszewski,Jari Viik,Rami Lehtinen,G. André Ng,Peter W. Macfarlane,Paul Burton,Terho Lehtimäki,Nilesh J. Samani +12 more
TL;DR: A common NOS1AP variant prolongs QTc with a difference between genders, and further studies should aim to confirm this finding and to assess whether Nos1AP genotype influences the risk of drug-induced QT prolongation and risk of consequent arrhythmias.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuregulin genotype and medication response in Finnish patients with schizophrenia.
Olli Kampman,Sami Anttila,Ari Illi,Marika Saarela,Riikka Rontu,Kari M. Mattila,Esa Leinonen,Terho Lehtimäki +7 more
TL;DR: Compared neuregulin 1 genotypes in patients with schizophrenia and control subjects of Finnish origin by using one SNP (SNP8NRG221533) as a genetic marker, NRG1 genotype with regard to age at onset and between responders and non-responders to conventional antipsychotics was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relation of high cytomegalovirus antibody titres to blood pressure and brachial artery flow‐mediated dilation in young men: the Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns Study
Atte Haarala,Mika Kähönen,Terho Lehtimäki,Janne Aittoniemi,Juulia Jylhävä,N. Hutri-Kähönen,Leena Taittonen,Tomi Laitinen,Markus Juonala,Jorma Viikari,Olli T. Raitakari,M Hurme +11 more
TL;DR: High CMV antibody titres are associated independently with blood pressure and brachial artery flow‐mediated dilation in young men, and this association supports the hypothesis that common CMV infection and/or an immune response to CMV may lead to impaired vascular function at a young age.
