Novel genes for autism implicate both excitatory and inhibitory cell lineages in risk

F. Kyle Satterstrom, +172 more
- 01 Dec 2018 -
TL;DR: The largest exome sequencing study to date focused on rare variation in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is presented, and 99 genes in ASD risk are implicate at a false discovery rate of 0.1, implying that disruption of these genes alters the development of both neuron types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Child and Adult Elevated Blood Pressure on Adult Arterial Stiffness : The Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns Study

TL;DR: The results were consistent when different definitions for child and adult elevated BP were applied, and highlight the importance of BP control in the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood leukocyte count is a risk factor for intima-media thickening and subclinical carotid atherosclerosis in middle-aged men.

TL;DR: Leukocytes seem to have an independent role in the early arterial damage and they may reflect subclinical disease, implying that leukocyte count is undervalued in the diagnostics and prognostics of carotid atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Major human plasma lipid classes determined by quantitative high-performance liquid chromatography, their variation and associations with phospholipid fatty acids.

TL;DR: In comparison to other lipid classes, quantitation of PC proved to be equally repeatable despite its lowest detector response, and the relative recoveries varied from 97.0 to 110.3%, showing good accuracy of the method.
