TL;DR: A new species of Oedipina (subgenus Oeditriton) is described from the highlands of north-central Nicaragua, most closely related to O. kasios and O. quadra and having a more slender habitus and fewer vomerine teeth.
Abstract: We describe a new species of Oedipina (subgenus Oeditriton) from the highlands of north-central Nicaragua. The new species is most closely related to Oedipina kasios, a premontane species from north-central Honduras, and O. quadra, a lowland species from northern and eastern Honduras. It differs from O. kasios and O. quadra in molecular characters and by having a more slender habitus and fewer vomerine teeth. We also discuss the status of the additional populations of Oedipina from Nicaragua.

TL;DR: In this paper, a liquid chromatography method with diode array and fluorescence detection and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC-DAD-FLD and LC-ESI-MS) was developed for the determination of residues of resveratrol in all its forms (free isomers and glycosylates) in honey.
Abstract: In this work, a liquid chromatography method with diode array and fluorescence detection and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC-DAD-FLD and LC-ESI-MS) has been developed for the determination of residues of resveratrol in all its forms (free isomers and glycosylates) in honey. This procedure involves a solid-phase extraction on polymeric cartridges for the isolation of trans/cis-isomers of resveratrol and piceid from diluted honey samples. Chromatographic separation of the analytes was performed in isocratic mode on a C18 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm i.d., 5 μm) operated at 30 °C. The mobile phase consisted of a mixture of water with 1% formic acid and acetonitrile (75/25, v/v), and the flow rate was set at 1.0 mL/min. Average analyte recoveries were from 71% to 113% in replica sets of fortified honey samples. The detection limits when using LC-DAD-FLD were between 40 and 120 μg/kg, meanwhile for LC-ESI-MS were between 1.4 and 14.6 μg/kg. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of honey samples collected from treated beehives in experimental apiaries after a preliminary field trial, and they were not found any residues over the detection limits of the studied compounds.

TL;DR: In this article, an update review is presented on the threats, challenges and cooperation opportunities in PEH among bio-health professionals and other social sectors involved, from the EU and LAC.
Abstract: In a world that is increasingly technological and interconnected, but also more violent, overexploited and polluted, Paediatric Environmental Health (PEH) is one of the best contributions to improve global health. Few areas of the planet have a high affinity with common values and interests, such as the European Union (EU), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The investments and actions of the PEH in pre- and postnatal periods during the first two decades of life will generate countless benefits in the health and well-being during the human life span. Detecting, reducing, or eliminating physical, chemical, biological and social pollutants is one of the main missions and actions of the PEH. In this special article, an update review is presented on the threats, challenges and cooperation opportunities in PEH among bio-health professionals and other social sectors involved, from the EU and LAC. New professional profiles, knowledge structures and architectures for engagement emerge. Courageous leaderships, new substantial resources, broad social changes, and the necessary collaboration between the two regions will be required to improve the health of present and future generations.

TL;DR: A differentiated approach to IPV prevention strategies and interventions that consider women’s family structure in the household as well as individual, partner, and relationship characteristics are recommended.
Abstract: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a significant public health issue with detrimental consequences for women’s reproductive, mental, and physical health. In Haiti, IPV is a major obstacle to women’...
