TL;DR: Results of analyses using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicate eight factors to be statistically significant influencing time performance of shop-house constructions in Surabaya.
Abstract: Some shop-houses were built late and others are on time, or faster than the schedule that had been planned. The questions are how it could happen and what kind of factors that made it happened. This research has an objective to investigate time performance of shop-house constructions in Surabaya by representing factors that influence it. It first assembles potential influencing factors through literature review, and second, conducts an empirical study by collecting data from finished thirty-two shop-house projects throughout the city. Results of analyses using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicate eight factors to be statistically significant influencing time performance. They are construction design change, schedule of work that will be done, workers discipline, material availability, owner’s payment, quality control, workers availability, and material delivery. The paper discusses the factors and proposes possible solutions to improve time performance.

TL;DR: In this article, a short article examines how to manage service quality in hospitality industry through managing the "moment of truth" or service encounter, which is done by referring to some problems and challenges in managing service encounters.
Abstract: Hospitality industry is one of the service businesses that pays so much attention to service quality as it is the main intangible product that it produces. This short article examines how to manage service quality in hospitality industry through managing the 'moment of truth' or service encounter. The analysis is done by referring to some problems and challenges in managing service encounters. The results of the analysis show some important points to consider when managing service encounters.

TL;DR: Although the performance of the system in the presence of disturbance was not satisfied, the system worked well under normal condition and it is interesting to continue this project to generate the general purpose FLC system.
Abstract: Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is one of popular control algorithms. This paper proposes the implementation of FLC for PLC TSX 37-21. This PLC has additional plug-in called PL7Fuz but user has to buy it separately. The proposed idea was implemented to control the speed of DC motor. FLC is designed with 2 inputs and 1 output (5 labels for each input/output). For simplicity, the output membership function uses singleton type. The input membership functions use triangle and trapezoid types. For this PLC can be programmed with several methods, the structured text method was chosen. Although the performance of the system in the presence of disturbance was not satisfied, the system worked well under normal condition. The FLC system is not general so the tuning process is difficult. It is interesting to continue this project to generate the general purpose FLC system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the consistency of fly ash from one power plant source was investigated for making a high-volume fly ash (HVFA) mortar, and the fly ash replacement ratio was varied from 10-60% of cement, by mass.
Abstract: Fly ash is a by-product of coal burning and is widely used as a substitute for cement material. The advantages of using fly ash in concrete include the improvement of workability and reduction of bleeding and segregation. The problem often encountered when using fly ash is the uncertainty of the fly ash quality. The quality is influenced by the coal origin, burning technique, mineral content, and capturing method. In this study, the consistency of fly ash from one power plant source was investigated for making a high-volume fly ash (HVFA) mortar. Variations in fly ash can be detected by applying rapid indicators as suggested in this paper; i.e., the pH of the fly ash in aqueous solution, the percentage of fly ash particles passing sieve #325 and the superplasticizer demand for the targeted slump flow. The fly ash replacement ratio was varied from 10–60% of cement, by mass. The results showed a large variation in the chemical content of the fly ash as shown by variation in pH, whereas only slight variation in the physical properties of the fly ash, i.e. particle size and shape. Superplasticizer demand for the same flow diameter was reduced with the increase of fly ash content, whereas the optimum fly ash replacement ratio for maximum strength varied among fly ash from different sampling periods. The compressive strength could reach that of control specimens at a replacement ratio of 20–30%, and mortar compressive strength of 42 MPa was still achievable at a replacement ratio of 50%.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used meta-analysis technique to evaluate the effectiveness of loyalty programs in boosting customer loyalty in nine empirical studies in hospitality businesses and concluded that loyalty programs do not have a significant effect on increasing customer loyalty.
Abstract: Loyalty programs have been extensively used to enhance customer loyalty. Despite the rapid growth of the programs, its effectiveness in boosting customer loyalty is still questionable. By employing meta-analysis technique, nine empirical studies in hospitality businesses are reviewed. Result shows that loyalty programs do not have a significant effect on increasing customer loyalty. The programs are only able to encourage customers to repeatedly purchase without having emotional attachment and personal relationship to the companies.
