TL;DR: The authors investigated the effect of perceived salesperson attractiveness on actual salesperson performance, focusing first on the moderating effect of length of the buyer-salesperson relationship and then on mediating effects of perceived communication ability, likeability, expertise, and trustworthiness on the attractiveness effect.
Abstract: This study empirically investigates the effect of perceived salesperson attractiveness on actual salesperson performance, focusing first on the moderating effect of length of the buyer - salesperson relationship and then on the mediating effects of perceived communication ability, likeability, expertise, and trustworthiness on the attractiveness effect A sample of 339 physicians was surveyed to obtain their evaluations of pharmaceutical company sales representatives’ attractiveness as well as their perceptions of the mediators Actual brand-by-brand market share data of the subject physicians’ prescriptions was collected as the dependent variable The results showed that perceived salesperson attractiveness had a significant positive effect on salesperson performance, but the effect was found to diminish as the length of the salesperson-customer relationship increased Three of the four proposed mediators were found to partially mediate the effect of attractiveness on sales performance

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review some key considerations in conducting marketing strategy research and offer recommendations for how they may be resolved, and provide recommendations for the most effective research to address marketing strategy issues.
Abstract: Marketing, as an academic discipline, is becoming more and more concerned with strategic issues. Indeed, numerous theoretical articles concerning marketing strategy issues have won awards in the Journal of Marketing in recent years. However, empirical testing of these theories has been less frequent. Difficulties in designing effective research to address marketing strategy issues may be a significant reason for this situation. This paper reviews some key considerations in conducting marketing strategy research and offers recommendations for how they may be resolved.

11 Jun 1997TL;DR: A catheter for delivering electrical anergy to a selectable region of a patient's body has at least one layer (46, 42, 34, 34) of fibers over the flexible core (28) and underlying layers opposite in direction from that of the immediately preceding layer so as to provide a catheter with good torque transfer properties as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A catheter (10) for delivering electrical anergy to a selectable region of a patient's body has at least one layer (46) of fibers with at least one electrically conductive fiber (50-56, 60-68) stranded over a flexible core (28). Each layer (46, 42, 34) of fibers is stranded over the flexible core (28) and underlying layers opposite in direction from that of the immediately preceding layer so as to provide a catheter with good torque transfer properties in addition to its electrical energy transfer properties. The outermost layer (46) of stranded fibers is electrically conductive and is covered by an electrically insulative outer layer (17) which is mechanically strippable to expose selectable regions of the underlying layer of stranded fibers. Electrical anergy is transmitted along the outermost layer (46) of stranded fibers to tissue which is in contact with the exposed contact region of the outermost layer of stranded fibers. The catheter can also deliver electrical energy through a cutting tip for multipolar electro-cautery.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a paradigm shift to advance tropical forest biomass research to a firmer theoretical and empirical basis by identifying fundamental weaknesses in the design and implementation of field studies.
Abstract: Despite the importance of measuring tropical forest biomass, the accuracy of biomass estimates is poorly constrained due to fundamental weaknesses in the design and implementation of field studies. We identify these issues and propose a radical paradigm shift to advance tropical forest biomass research to a firmer theoretical and empirical basis.
