TL;DR: In this paper, a composite membrane consisting of a thin palladium film supported on the outer surface of a porous glass cylinder was shown to be highly permeable to hydrogen, having an extremely high selectivity for hydrogen separation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a new result based on an analysis of the data collected by the MEG detector at the Paul Scherrer Institut in 2009 and 2010, in search of the lepton-flavor-violating decay.
Abstract: We present a new result based on an analysis of the data collected by the MEG detector at the Paul Scherrer Institut in 2009 and 2010, in search of the lepton-flavor-violating decay ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$. The likelihood analysis of the combined data sample, which corresponds to a total of $1.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{14}$ muon decays, gives a 90% C.L. upper limit of $2.4\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}12}$ on the branching ratio of the ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ decay, constituting the most stringent limit on the existence of this decay to date.

TL;DR: Recently, Noheda et al. as mentioned in this paper presented a monoclinic phase in unpoloded unpolifted PMN-PT 35% and unpolved PZNPT 9% with a strong deformation of oxygen polyhedra and weak cationic shifts.
Abstract: Evidences of a monoclinic phase in unpoled $({\mathrm{PbMg}}_{1/3}{\mathrm{Nb}}_{2/3}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}{)}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}\ensuremath{-}({\mathrm{PbTiO}}_{3}{)}_{x}$ with $x=035$ (PMN-PT 35%) and unpoled $({\mathrm{PbZn}}_{1/3}{\mathrm{Nb}}_{2/3}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}{)}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}\ensuremath{-}({\mathrm{PbTiO}}_{3}{)}_{x}$ with $x=009$ (PZN-PT 9%) are presented from a neutron Rietveld analysis This monoclinic phase is different from the phase recently evidenced by Noheda and co-workers in ${\mathrm{PbZr}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Ti}}_{x}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ with $x=048$ [B Noheda et al, Phys Rev B 61, 8687 (2000)] but is identical to the phase observed in poled PZN-PT with $x=008$ [B Noheda et al, Phys Rev Lett 86, 3891 (2001)] by the same authors The structural resolutions allowed us to compare both structures and to deduce the direction and magnitude of polarization In PMN-PT 35% and PZN-PT 9% this phase is characterized by a weak value of polarization, a strong deformation of oxygen polyhedra, and weak cationic shifts

08 Oct 2007TL;DR: An analytical method for estimating the location of the unknown tag by using the multilateration with the landmarks and a probabilistic RFID map-based technique with Kalman filtering to enhance the location estimation of the tag.
Abstract: Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a rapidly developing technology which uses wireless communication for automatic identification of objects. The localization of RFID tagged objects in their environment is becoming an important feature for the ubiquitous computing applications. In This paper we introduce a new positioning algorithm for RFID tags using two mobile RFID readers and landmarks which are passive or active tags with known location and distributed randomly. We present an analytical method for estimating the location of the unknown tag by using the multilateration with the landmarks and a probabilistic RFID map-based technique with Kalman filtering to enhance the location estimation of the tag. This algorithm is independent from the readers coordinates, and hence it can be more practical due to its mobility and its low cost to achieve a high deployment of this emerging technology. Results obtained after conducting extensive simulations demonstrate the validity and suitability of the proposed algorithm to provide high performance level in terms of accuracy and scalability.
