Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Influences on Alcohol Use across Stages of Development: GABRA2 and Longitudinal Trajectories of Drunkenness from Adolescence to Young Adulthood
Danielle M. Dick,Seung Bin Cho,Shawn J. Latendresse,Fazil Aliev,John I. Nurnberger,Howard J. Edenberg,Marc A. Schuckit,Victor Hesselbrock,Bernice Porjesz,Kathleen K. Bucholz,Jen Chyong Wang,Alison Goate,John Kramer,Samuel Kuperman +13 more
TL;DR: Variation in GABRA2 was associated with an increase in drunkenness that occurred at the transition between adolescence and adulthood, and the genotypic effect was more pronounced in females.
Journal ArticleDOI
No association between the alpha-2 macroglobulin I1000V polymorphism and Alzheimer's disease
Fabienne Wavrant-DeVrieze,Varuni Rudrasingham,Jean-Charles Lambert,Sumi Chakraverty,Patrick G. Kehoe,Richard Crook,P Amouyel,William Wu,Peter Holmans,Peter Holmans,F Rice,Jordi Pérez-Tur,Bernard Frigard,John C. Morris,Stephanie Carty,Dominique Cottel,Nigel Tunstall,Simon Lovestone,Ronald C. Petersen,Marie-Christine Chartier-Harlin,Alison Goate,Michael John Owen,Julie Williams,John Hardy +23 more
TL;DR: Results fail to show an association between this polymorphism in the alpha2-macroglobulin gene (I1000V) and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validating predicted biological effects of Alzheimer's disease associated SNPs using CSF biomarker levels.
John S. K. Kauwe,Carlos Cruchaga,Sarah Bertelsen,Kevin H. Mayo,Wayne Latu,Petra Nowotny,Anthony L. Hinrichs,Anne M. Fagan,Holtzman David M,Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative,Alison Goate +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the minor allele of rs2986017, in CALHM1, is marginally associated with CSF Aβ42 levels, consistent with previous reports that this non-synonymous coding substitution results in increased Aβ levels in vitro and provides support for an Aβ-related mechanism for modulating risk for Alzheimer's disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of substance dependence phenotypes in the COGA sample
Leah Wetherill,Arpana Agrawal,Manav Kapoor,Sarah Bertelsen,Laura J. Bierut,Andrew Brooks,Danielle M. Dick,Michie Hesselbrock,Victor Hesselbrock,Daniel L. Koller,Nhung Le,John I. Nurnberger,Jessica E. Salvatore,Marc A. Schuckit,Jay A. Tischfield,Jen Chyong Wang,Xiaoling Xuei,Howard J. Edenberg,Bernice Porjesz,Kathleen K. Bucholz,Alison Goate,Tatiana Foroud +21 more
TL;DR: The results of this study provide evidence that there are common variants that contribute to the risk for a general liability to substance dependence.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Tale of Two Genes: Microglial Apoe and Trem2.
TL;DR: A gene expression signature associated with an APOE- and TREM2-dependent response of microglia to brain tissue damage that accumulates in aging and disease is described, defining an axis that might be amenable to therapeutic targeting.
