Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative sequence analysis of the human and pufferfish Huntington's disease genes.
Sarah Baxendale,Sarah Abdulla,Greg Elgar,David Buck,Mary Berks,Gos Micklem,Richard Durbin,Gill Bates,Sydney Brenner,Stephan Beck,Hans Lehrach +10 more
TL;DR: This work cloned and sequenced the homologue of the HD gene in the pufferfish, Fugu rubripes, and describes a detailed example of sequence comparison between human and Fugu, which illustrates the power of the Pufferfish genome as a model system in the analysis of human genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Software for genome mapping by fingerprinting techniques
TL;DR: A genome mapping package has been developed for reading and assembling data from clones analysed by restriction enzyme fragmentation and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to meet the needs of the Caenorhabditis project.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative ab initio prediction of gene structures using pair HMMs.
Irmtraud M. Meyer,Richard Durbin +1 more
TL;DR: A novel comparative method for the ab initio prediction of protein coding genes in eukaryotic genomes which simultaneously predicts the gene structures of two un-annotated input DNA sequences which are homologous to each other and retrieves the subsequences which are conserved between the two DNA sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Resolution Mapping of Complex Traits with a Four-Parent Advanced Intercross Yeast Population
Francisco A. Cubillos,Francisco A. Cubillos,Leopold Parts,Leopold Parts,Francisco Salinas,Anders Bergström,Eugenio Scovacricchi,Amin Zia,Christopher J. R. Illingworth,Ville Mustonen,Sebastian Ibstedt,Jonas Warringer,Edward J. Louis,Edward J. Louis,Richard Durbin,Gianni Liti +15 more
TL;DR: The most parsimonious model for the majority of loci mapped using either approach was the effect of an allele private to one founder, which could validate examples of pleiotropic effects and complex allelic series at a locus.
