Identification of common variants influencing risk of the tauopathy progressive supranuclear palsy

Günter U. Höglinger, +140 more
- 01 Jul 2011 -
TL;DR: Two independent variants in MAPT affecting risk for PSP are confirmed, one of which influences MAPT brain expression and the genes implicated encode proteins for vesicle-membrane fusion at the Golgi-endosomal interface and for a myelin structural component.
Journal ArticleDOI

The release and trans-synaptic transmission of Tau via exosomes

TL;DR: In this paper, microfluidic devices that allow the culture of cell populations in different compartments were used to investigate the spreading of tau pathology, and they showed that exosomes mediate trans-neuronal transfer of Tau depending on synaptic connectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Multicenter Study of Glucocerebrosidase Mutations in Dementia With Lewy Bodies

Mike A. Nalls, +68 more
- 01 Jun 2013 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found a significant association between GBA1 mutation carrier status and DLB, with an odds ratio of 8.28 (95% CI, 4.78-14.88).
Journal ArticleDOI

CSF biomarker variability in the Alzheimer's Association quality control program

Niklas Mattsson, +118 more
TL;DR: The cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers amyloid beta 1–42, total tau, and phosphorylated tau are used increasingly for Alzheimer's disease research and patient management, but there are large variations in biomarker measurements among and within laboratories.
