TL;DR: The results suggest that there is no significant association between TM and testicular cancer, although it is difficult to rule out such an association without further studies with a longer follow-up period.
Abstract: Testicular microlithiasis is a rare, usually asymptomatic, finding of the testes associated with various genetic anomalies and infertility It is also widely believed that testicular microlithiasis is strongly associated with testicular tumor The aim of this prospective study was to determine the true prevalence of testicular microlithiasis in an asymptomatic population by means of ultrasound screening Healthy male volunteers (17–42 years old) were recruited from the annual Army Reserve Officer Training Corps training camp at Manisa, Turkey A screening genitourinary history was obtained and a physical examination and screening scrotal ultrasound scan were performed All men diagnosed with testicular microlithiasis underwent complete clinical evaluations, physical examinations and determination of tumor markers Fifty-three men with testicular microlithiasis were identified from the 2179 ultrasound scans, giving a prevalence of testicular microlithiasis of 24% in this asymptomatic population The age (

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of an uniform inclined magnetic field by using finite element method was numerically analyzed for the case of CuO-water nanofluid in a square cavity with a conductive partition and a phase change material (PCM) attached to its vertical wall.
Abstract: In this study, natural convection of CuO–water nanofluid in a square cavity with a conductive partition and a phase change material (PCM) attached to its vertical wall is numerically analyzed under the effect of an uniform inclined magnetic field by using finite element method Effects of various pertinent parameters such as Rayleigh number (between $$10^5$$ and $$10^6$$ ), Hartmann number (between 0 and 100), magnetic inclination angle (between $$0^{\circ}$$ and $$90^{\circ}$$ ), PCM height (between 02H and 08H), PCM length (between 01H and 08H), thermal conductivity ratio (between 01 and 100) and solid nanoparticle volume fraction (between 0 and 004) on the fluid flow and thermal characteristics were numerically analyzed It was observed that when magnetic field is imposed, more reduction in average Nusselt number for water is obtained as compared to nanofluid which is $$3181\%$$ for the nanofluid at the highest particle volume fraction The average heat transfer augments with magnetic inclination angle, but it is less than $$5\%$$ When the height of the PCM is increased which is from 02H to 08H, local and average Nusselt number reduced which is $$4214\%$$ However, the length of the PCM is not significant on the heat transfer enhancement When the conductivity ratio of the PCM to the base fluid within the cavity is increased from 01 to 10, $$295\%$$ of the average Nusselt number enhancement is achieved

TL;DR: This is the first multisite biodiversity × drought manipulation experiment to examine drought resistance and recovery at five temperate and Mediterranean grassland sites and suggests that a more context-dependent view considering the nature of the climatic disturbance as well as the productivity of the studied system will help identify under which circumstances biodiversity promotes drought resistance or recovery.
Abstract: Biodiversity can buffer ecosystem functioning against extreme climatic events, but few experiments have explicitly tested this. Here, we present the first multisite biodiversity × drought manipulation experiment to examine drought resistance and recovery at five temperate and Mediterranean grassland sites. Aboveground biomass production declined by 30% due to experimental drought (standardised local extremity by rainfall exclusion for 72–98 consecutive days). Species richness did not affect resistance but promoted recovery. Recovery was only positively affected by species richness in low-productive communities, with most diverse communities even showing overcompensation. This positive diversity effect could be linked to asynchrony of species responses. Our results suggest that a more context-dependent view considering the nature of the climatic disturbance as well as the productivity of the studied system will help identify under which circumstances biodiversity promotes drought resistance or recovery. Stability of biomass production can generally be expected to decrease with biodiversity loss and climate change.

TL;DR: In this paper, two-dimensional equations of motion for the slowly flowing second grade fluid are written in cartesian coordinates neglecting the inertial terms, by employing Lie group analysis, the symmetries of the equations are calculated.
Abstract: The two-dimensional equations of motion for the slowly flowing second grade fluid are written in cartesian coordinates neglecting the inertial terms. By employing Lie group analysis, the symmetries of the equations are calculated. The Lie algebra consists of four finite parameter Lie group transformations, one being the scaling symmetry and the others being translations. Two different types of solutions are found using the symmetries. Using the translations in x and y coordinates, an exponential type of exact solution is constructed. For the scaling symmetry, the outcoming ordinary differential equations are more involved and only a series type of approximate solution is presented. Finally, some boundary value problems are discussed.
