Abstract: Nanoscale molecular-electronic devices comprising a single molecular monolayer of bistable [2]rotaxanes sandwiched between two 40-nm metal electrodes were fabricated using imprint lithography. Bistable current–voltage characteristics with high on–off ratios and reversible switching properties were observed. Such devices may function as basic elements for future ultradense electronic circuitry.

Abstract: An enhanced model for an open-ended coaxial probe used for making permittivity measurements is presented. A permittivity measurement system consisting of the coaxial probe and a network analyzer is described including details of the error correction and curve fitting techniques. Determination of the percent dissolved solids in fructose solutions from permittivity measurements is presented as example of the usefulness of the coaxial probe/network analyzer measurement system.

Abstract: A notation called Objectcharts for specifying object classes is introduced. An Objectchart diagram is an extended form of a Statechart, which characterizes the behavior of a class as a state machine. The Objectchart transitions correspond to the state-changing methods that the class provides and those that it requires of other classes. Object attributes and observer methods annotate Objectchart states. Firing and postconditions are used to specify the effect of transitions on class attributes. The Objectchart notions is described through the development of an alarm clock application. How Objectcharts can be used to find subtyping inheritance relationships between classes and a systematic approach for evolving Objectchart specifications are shown. >

Abstract: A significant number of security breaches result from employees' failure to comply with security policies. Many organizations have tried to change or influence security behaviour, but found it a major challenge. Drawing on previous research on usable security and economics of security, we propose a new approach to managing employee security behaviour. We conducted interviews with 17 employees from two major commercial organizations, asking why they do or don't comply with security policies. Our results show that key factors in the compliance decision are the actual and anticipated cost and benefits of compliance to the individual employee, and perceived cost and benefits to the organization. We present a new paradigm -- the Compliance Budget - as a means of understanding how individuals perceive the costs and benefits of compliance with organisational security goals, and identify a range of approaches that security managers can use to influence employee's perceptions (which, in turn, influence security behaviour). The Compliance Budget should be understood and managed in the same way as any financial budget, as compliance directly affects, and can place a cap on, effectiveness of organisational security measures.
