TL;DR: It is suggested that WHR represents an important bodily feature associated with physical attractiveness as well as with health and reproductive potential that influences female attractiveness and its role in mate selection.
Abstract: Evidence is presented showing that body fat distribution as measured by waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is correlated with youthfulness, reproductive endocrinologic status, and long-term health risk in women. Three studies show that men judge women with low WHR as attractive. Study 1 documents that minor changes in WHRs of Miss America winners and Playboy playmates have occurred over the past 30-60 years. Study 2 shows that college-age men find female figures with low WHR more attractive, healthier, and of greater reproductive value than figures with a higher WHR. In Study 3, 25- to 85-year-old men were found to prefer female figures with lower WHR and assign them higher ratings of attractiveness and reproductive potential. It is suggested that WHR represents an important bodily feature associated with physical attractiveness as well as with health and reproductive potential. A hypothesis is proposed to explain how WHR influences female attractiveness and its role in mate selection. Evolutionary theories of human mate selection contend that both men and women select mating partners who enable them to enhance reproductive success. Differential reproductive conditions and physiological constraints in men and women, however, induce different gender-specific sexual and reproductive strategies. In general, a woman can increase her reproductive success by choosing a high-status man who controls resources and, hence, can provide material security to successfully raise

TL;DR: The structure of Petr i nets, thei r markings and execution, several examples of Petm net models of computer hardware and software, and research into the analysis of Pet m nets are presented, as are the use of the reachabil i ty tree and the decidability and complexity of some Petr i net problems.
Abstract: Over the last decade, the Petr i net has gamed increased usage and acceptance as a basic model of systems of asynchronous concurrent computation. This paper surveys the basic concepts and uses of Petm nets. The structure of Petr i nets, thei r markings and execution, several examples of Petm net models of computer hardware and software, and research into the analysis of Petm nets are presented, as are the use of the reachabil i ty tree and the decidability and complexity of some Petr i net problems. Petr i net languages, models of computation related to Petm nets, and some extensions and subclasses of the Petri net model are also bmefly discussed

TL;DR: In this paper, the consequences of spontaneously broken chiral symmetry for the forces among two or more nucleons were derived using phenomenological lagrangians, and the results were used to derive the consequences for the chiral forces among nucleons.

TL;DR: Infiltration of a conducting polymer hydrogel into Si-based anodes results in a well-connected three-dimensional network structure consisting of Si nanoparticles conformally coated by the conducting polymer, demonstrating a cycle life of 5,000 cycles with over 90% capacity retention at current density.
Abstract: Silicon has a high-specific capacity as an anode material for Li-ion batteries, and much research has been focused on overcoming the poor cycling stability issue associated with its large volume changes during charging and discharging processes, mostly through nanostructured material design. Here we report incorporation of a conducting polymer hydrogel into Si-based anodes: the hydrogel is polymerized in-situ, resulting in a well-connected three-dimensional network structure consisting of Si nanoparticles conformally coated by the conducting polymer. Such a hierarchical hydrogel framework combines multiple advantageous features, including a continuous electrically conductive polyaniline network, binding with the Si surface through either the crosslinker hydrogen bonding with phytic acid or electrostatic interaction with the positively charged polymer, and porous space for volume expansion of Si particles. With this anode, we demonstrate a cycle life of 5,000 cycles with over 90% capacity retention at current density of 6.0 A g(-1).
