TL;DR: In this article, a neural network model for predicting anticancer activity (lg1/C) was constructed with the back-propagation (BP) algorithm, which showed significantly nonlinear relationships between lg 1/C and three structural parameters.
Abstract: Molecular structures of pyridopyrimidines derivatives as known as dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) inhibitors were investigated by using the neural network method. Based on the molecular connectivity, molecular connectivity index and molecular electronegativity distance vectors of 32 pyridopyrimidine derivatives were obtained. Among these parameters, three optimized structural parameters 1χ3χ and M17 as the input neurons of the artificial neural network were selected by step-wise regression. Then a 3:4:1 network architecture was employed and a satisfying neural network model for predicting anticancer activity (lg1/C) was constructed with the back-propagation (BP) algorithm. The total correlation coefficient R and the standard deviation S were 0.925 and 0.336 respectively that showed significantly nonlinear relationships between lg1/C and three structural parameters. It was concluded that the predictions of BP neural network are better than those of methods in the literatures.

TL;DR: In this paper, the intercombination line (1s2p(3P1)−1s 2) and the resonance line of He-like Mo, which are the two electronic dipole transitions in the Kα group emissions, are studied under dense plasma conditions by using the ion-sphere model combined with the multi-configuration Dirac-Fock model.
Abstract: The intercombination line (1s2p(3P1)−1s2) and the resonance line (1s2p(1P1)−1s2) of He-like Mo, which are the two electronic dipole transitions in the Kα group emissions, are studied under dense plasma conditions by using the ion–sphere model combined with the multi-configuration Dirac–Fock model. The results show that the two electronic dipole transitions red shift nearly linearly with the increase in plasma electron density. Moreover, the red-shift energy becomes more sensitive to the plasma electron density, when the plasma electron temperature is lower. It is worth to note that the energy discrepancy between these two spectral lines is equal to the exchange energy of state 1s2p (3P1). This result may be useful to dense plasma diagnosis in connection with variation of the relative position and the spectral fine structure splitting in high-density plasmas.

TL;DR: In this paper, a composite electroslag remelting technology was prepared with Cr12Mo1V1 steel as matrix, and the WC particles as hard phase steel bonded carbide.
Abstract: The composite electroslag remelting technology was prepared with Cr12Mo1V1 steel as matrix, and the WC particles as hard phase steel bonded carbide. By means of metallographic analysis and scanning electron microscopy and other methods to study the microstructure and grinding crack morphology of the composites, and rockwell hardness and friction and wear experiment was carried out. The results show that WC particles had no obvious slant phenomenon, partly dissolved in the steel matrix, Fe3W3C multiple carbides precipitated after cooling. And the external hardness and abrasion resistance fo the roll were higher than the core, combined with good WC particles and steel matrix, and wear surface grinding marks was small, shallow furrowed, improved the roll wear resistance and service life.

TL;DR: The hypothesis that increasing biomass and heterocyst formation of Anabaena can be primarily caused by seasonal changes of the water level in Poyang Lake is supported.
Abstract: Background Poyang Lake is an ecosystem experiencing annual variations in water level of up to 14 m. Water level changes were 8.03 and 11.22 m, respectively, in the years 2013 and 2014. The biomass and heterocyst frequency of Anabaena increased in the summers of recent years. Methods A weekly to bi-weekly monitoring from June to November 2013 and 2014 was set up to explain the variations of Anabaena appearance in different phases of the water level. Results Anabaena was present in the lake throughout the year. The average relative biomass of Anabaena in the present study was over 40%, being most abundant in summer. The average heterocyst frequency was 0.23% in 2013 and 0.76% in 2014. Correlation analysis indicated a positive trend of Anabaena biomass with water temperature and water level and a negative one with total nitrogen (TN), which is the reason for the increase of heterocyst frequency in 2013 and 2014. Heterocyst frequency of Anabaena was positively correlated with water temperature, water level and PO4-P, and negatively with dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN/DIP), NO3-N and TN. Moreover, water temperature and DIN/DIP were significantly correlated with water level, indicating that water level changes have a direct effect on Anabaena and heterocyst formation in Poyang Lake. Conclusions The results of this study support the hypothesis that increasing biomass and heterocyst formation of Anabaena can be primarily caused by seasonal changes of the water level in Poyang Lake.

TL;DR: In this article, a mutant RK02 was screened, and the factors such as the substrate concentration, nitrogen source concentration, inoculum size, seed age, aeration and temperature were studied in detail.
Abstract: In order to get an industrial strain which can yield a high concentration of lactic acid for ISPR (in situ product removal), the original strain Rhizopus oryzae RE3303 was mutated by low-energy ion beam implantation. A mutant RK02 was screened, and the factors such as the substrate concentration, nitrogen source concentration, inoculum size, seed age, aeration and temperature that affect the production of lactic acid were studied in detail. Under optimal conditions, the maximum concentration of L(+)-lactic acid reached 34.85 g/L after 30 h shake-flask cultivation without adding any neutralisation (5% Glucose added), which was a 146% increase in lactic acid production after ion implantation compared with the original strain. It was also shown that RK02 can be used in ISPR to reduce the number of times of separation.
