Effects of Intermittent Fasting on Health, Aging, and Disease
Rafael de Cabo,Mark P. Mattson +1 more
TLDR
Effects of Intermittent Fasting on Health and Aging evidence is accumulating that eating in a 6-hour period and fasting for 18 hours can trigger a metabolic switch from glucose-based to ketone-base fasting.Abstract:

Intermittent fasting and time-restricted eating role in dietary interventions and precision nutrition
TL;DR: It is conceivable that IF and TRE may contribute to precision nutrition strategies to achieve optimal health, however, more research is needed to evaluateIF and TRE effects on health outcomes and any side effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early time‐restricted feeding improves high‐density lipoprotein amount and function in nonhuman primates, without effects on body composition
Kylie Kavanagh,Alexander Bashore,Matthew M. Davis,Matthew J. Jorgensen,Christopher J McClouth,Daniel A Beavers,John S. Parks +6 more
TL;DR: Brief TRF trials demonstrate that high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol increases similar to diet/exercise interventions, which may impart beneficial CVD effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of parenteral nutrition in paediatric critical care, and its consequences on recovery
TL;DR: Omitting supplemental PN during the first week of paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission as compared with early initiation of PN reduced new acquired infections and accelerated recovery and results of the long-term PEPaNIC follow-up study showed that withholding early PN did not negatively affect anthropometrics and health status but improved neurocognitive and psychosocial development 2 and 4 years later.
Book ChapterDOI
Targeting autophagy: lifestyle and pharmacological approaches
TL;DR: Autophagy is a process by which cellular contents can be removed for degradation in the lysosome and plays a critical role in the adaptation of organisms to different stress conditions, often determining whether a cell survives or dies as mentioned in this paper .

TL;DR: Findings of a 20-year longitudinal adult-onset CR study in rhesus monkeys aimed at filling this critical gap in aging research demonstrate that CR slows aging in a primate species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of dementia in diabetes mellitus: a systematic review
TL;DR: The findings of mechanistic studies suggest that vascular disease and alterations in glucose, insulin, and amyloid metabolism underlie the pathophysiology of dementia, but which of these mechanisms are clinically relevant is unclear.

TL;DR: Mice under tRF consume equivalent calories from HFD as those with ad lib access yet are protected against obesity, hyperinsulinemia, hepatic steatosis, and inflammation and have improved motor coordination.

Starvation in man.
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that decreased levels of active T3 may play a role by sparing otherwise obligated calories by decreasing metabolic needs, but this can be nullified by amino acid or protein supplementation.

Metabolic control of mitochondrial biogenesis through the PGC-1 family regulatory network.
TL;DR: The results point to a central role for the PGC-1 family in integrating mitochondrial biogenesis and energy production with many diverse cellular functions.
