TLDR
The observed IFN signature in several autoimmune diseases is a biomarker of active disease and is investigated as a tool when selecting treatment for individual patients.Abstract:
Purpose of reviewAn increased expression of type I interferon (IFN) regulated genes (an IFN signature) has been reported in blood and tissue cells from patients with SLE and other autoimmune diseases. We review the possible mechanisms behind the IFN signature as well as clinical and therapeutic consread more

Investigating novel pathways in B cell mediated autoimmunity in the context of the disease juvenile dermatomyositis
TL;DR: The results identified that JDM patients with active disease have a significantly expanded immature B cell population which was correlated with a type I IFN signature, providing further evidence that anti- IFN biologics could be efficacious in the treatment of JDM.

Pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations in primary Sjögren’s syndrome and Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
TL;DR: It is observed that the autoantigen Ro52 was expressed and upregulated in salivary glands of patients with primary Sjögren’s syndrome, and the frequency of autoantibodies including ANA, anti-Ro/SSA and anti-La/SSB was lower compared to other cohorts.

Global and CMV-specific Immune Assays to Predict Clinical Outcomes and Inform Clinical Practice in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a newly developed global cell-mediated immune assay called QuantiFERON-Monitor had the ability to quantify the degree of immunosuppression and predict susceptibility of transplant recipients for developing infections and it was showed that a cytomegalovirus-specific immune assay could predict which patients were susceptible for developing recurrent CMV infections.

TL;DR: In this paper, a meta-analysis of human blood infection studies using Machine Learning (ML) Results was conducted using publicly available gene expression data from two widely used platforms, Affymetrix and Illumina microarrays as they represented a significant proportion of the available data.

TL;DR: Global gene expression profiling of peripheral blood mononuclear cells is used to identify distinct patterns of gene expression that distinguish most SLE patients from healthy controls, and identify a subgroup of patients who may benefit from therapies targeting the IFN pathway.

TL;DR: Microarray analysis of blood cells reveals that immature granulocytes may be involved in SLE pathogenesis, and the IFN signature confirms the central role of this cytokine in Sle, using oligonucleotide microarrays.

TL;DR: The data uncover a fundamental role of an endogenous antimicrobial peptide in breaking innate tolerance to self-DNA and suggest that this pathway may drive autoimmunity in psoriasis.

TL;DR: The results support a disease mechanism in SLE that involves key components of the type I IFN system, and identify SNPs that displayed strong signals in joint analysis of linkage and association with SLE.
