Waterproof stretchable optoelectronics

TL;DR: In this paper, flexible and stretchable LED arrays and methods for assembly of flexible LED arrays alongside flexible plasmonic crystals are described. But they do not discuss the application of flexible arrays onto flexible threads as light emitting sutures for performing radiation therapy on wounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon Nanotube Growth from Diamond

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that nanosize diamond particles in a stable solid phase can act as nuclei for carbon nanotube growth by chemical vapor deposition, and the use of diamond nanoparticles overcomes the issues of deactivation due to fusion with each other or reaction with substrate materials in the CNT growth using conventional metal catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Syngas production via the biogas dry reforming reaction over nickel supported on modified with CeO2 and/or La2O3 alumina catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, an investigation of the effects of the modification of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) with various dopants, namely CeO2 and/or La 2O3 for Ni based catalysts (Ni/CeAl, Ni/LaAl and Ni/ceLaAl) synthesized via the wet impregnation method at a constant nickel loading (8 ¼ %), was performed for the biogas dry reforming reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman scattering as a probe of phonon confinement and surface optical modes in semiconducting nanowires

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the confinement model of Richter et al. well describes the nanowire diameter dependence of the asymmetric broadening of the one-phonon band in Si nanowires observed at ∼520 cm-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Catalyzed Growth of Carbon Nanotube with Definable Chirality by Hybrid Molecular Dynamics−Force Biased Monte Carlo Simulations

TL;DR: A CNT with definable chirality is obtained, and a step-by-step atomistic description of the nucleation process is presented, and the importance of the relaxation of the network is highlighted by the observed healing of defects.

The influence of dislocations on crystal growth

TL;DR: In fact, the existence of a critical finite supersaturation for further growth has only been established for a few materials, and then for individual faces of individual crystals, being different from case to case as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epitaxial Silicon Films by the Hydrogen Reduction of SiCl4

TL;DR: In this article, the basic chemistry and reaction kinetics pertinent to the growth of these films are discussed in detail in detail, including the hydrogen reduction of silicon tetrachloride appropriately doped with or.
Journal ArticleDOI

Growth and Defect Structure of Sapphire Microcrystals

TL;DR: In this article, small euhedral crystals of α-Al2O3 (sapphire) were observed following oxidation of aluminum and an aluminum alloy in wet hydrogen at high temperatures.
