TL;DR: In this article, a composite scintillator for simultaneous registration of α-particles and γ-quanta in mixed ionizing fluxes based on single crystalline films (SCFs) of Tb3Al3O12 and Gd3Al2.5Ga2.
Abstract: This work presents our latest achievements in the development of advanced composite scintillators for simultaneous registration of α-particles and γ-quanta in mixed ionizing fluxes based on single crystalline films (SCFs) of Tb3Al3O12 : Ce (TbAG : Ce) garnet and Gd3Al2.5Ga2.5O12 : Ce (GAGG : Ce) single crystal (SC) substrates using the liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) growth method from a melt-solution based on a PbO–B2O3 flux. The separation of the signals from the SCF and SC components of such composite scintillators can be realized by means of registration of the difference in the scintillation decay times of SCF and substrate scintillators and can be achieved at a large K = t(SCF)/t(SC) ratio, which is usually above 2. The TbAG : Ce SCFs exhibit relatively fast scintillation response under α-particle excitation with decay times of t1/e = 344–380 ns and t1/100 = 3130–3770 ns. Meanwhile, the scintillation response of TbAG : Ce SCFs under α-particle excitation is significantly slower in the 500–4000 ns range than that of the GAGG : Ce crystals with decay times of t1/e = 270–280 ns and t1/20 = 1280–1300 ns. We have found that for TbAG : Ce/GAGG : Ce composite scintillators, the optimal K ratio changes from 2.0 to 3.0 at the registration of scintillations with shaping times of 700–4000 ns. For this reason, TbAG : Ce/GAGG : Ce composite scintillators possess the best scintillation properties among all known LPE grown analogues for simultaneous registration of α-particles and γ-quanta in mixed fluxes.

TL;DR: The environmental approach to designing technological processes described in this paper is a new solution, and it automates the selection of materials and connections in the designed product.
Abstract: It becomes increasingly complex to make decisions concerning environmental requirements at the product design stage. Any decision made at this stage may affect the environmental impact of the product. It is therefore necessary to provide new tools for product designers to help them in ecological design choices. This paper describes a new method for ecodesigning technological processes. The method was implemented in an expert system, and it supports process engineers in the development of eco-friendly technological processes. Decision tree induction method was used. The environmental approach to designing technological processes described in this paper is a new solution, and it automates the selection of materials and connections in the designed product.

TL;DR: The morphological ontogeny, distribution and some descriptive population parameters of Hermannia reticulata Thorell, 1871 collected from throughout Arctic Svalbard are presented.
Abstract: The ontogeny is known for few species of the oribatid mite genus Hermannia (Hermanniidae). Here, we present the morphological ontogeny, distribution and some descriptive population parameters of Hermannia reticulata Thorell, 1871 collected from throughout Arctic Svalbard. All instars of Herm. reticulata are stocky, as other species of Hermannia Nicolet, 1855 for which ontogeny is known. They have gastronotal setae of similar form and ontogeny (12 pairs in the larva and 16 pairs in the nymphs and adult) and the same is true of prodorsal setae, except in Herm. reticulata the sensillus is clavate, whereas in the other species it is setiform. In Herm. reticulata, setae of the anal segment are delayed to the tritonymph as in most other studied species, whereas they first appear in the deutonymph in Herm. gibba. Studied species also differ by the number of epimeral setae in the nymphs and adult and the ontogeny of leg setae. Hermannia reticulata is a holarctic species and mainly occurs in the circumpola...

TL;DR: The results of the DIF analyses suggest that the Polish 4DSQ measures the same constructs as the Dutch 4 DSQ and that the Dutch norms can be used for the Polish subjects, except for distress: the first cut-off point should be one point lower.
Abstract: Background. The original Dutch Four-Dimensional Symptom Questionnaire (4DSQ), which measures distress, depression, anxiety and somatization, has been translated into Polish with the aim of providing primary health care with a good screening instrument for the detection of the most prevalent mental health problems (anxiety, somatization, depression and distress). Aim. To check if the Polish version is cross-culturally valid so that the scores of Polish subjects can be comparedwith the scores of Dutch subjects andtheDutch cut-off points can beused in Polish subjects. Method. 4DSQ data were collected from a mixed sample of students and primary care attendees. The Polish data were compared with the 4DSQ data of a matched sample of Dutch students and primary care attendees. Two methods of differential item functioning (DIF) analysis, ordinal logistic cregression and generalized Mantel-Haenszel, were used to detect items with DIF, and linear regression analysis was used to estimate the scale-level impact of DIF.Results. Four items showing DIF were detected in the distress scale, one in the somatization scale and one in the anxiety scale. The DIF in distress caused Polish subjects with moderate scores to score circa 1 point less than their Dutch counterparts. Conclusions. The results of the DIF analyses suggest that the Polish 4DSQ measures the sameconstructs as the Dutch 4DSQ and that the Dutch norms can be used for the Polish subjects, except for distress: the first cut-off point should be one point lower.
