Abstract: Lateral ankle sprains account for 85% of all ankle sprains. This common injury is most frequently sustained during sporting activity. The ATFL is the weakest of the lateral ankle ligament complex, and is most frequently injured. Ankle sprains are often undertreated, resulting in chronic pain, muscular weakness, and instability. The consequence of this common injury for professional sports clubs is days lost in training and matches missed due to injury as well as the cost of rehabilitation. In the UK, an estimated 302,000 ankle sprains are seen each year in Accident and Emergency Departments.

Abstract: In this paper, we analyze the TSR 2 British military aircraft project, beginnning with its conceptualization in the late 1950s and ending in 1965 with its cancellation. Using the notion of network we detail the fundamentally interconnected character of the social and the technical. We trace how the TSR 2 was conceived, designed, and developed, then consider difficulties encountered and the process that led to its cancellation. Our aim is to recommend and illustrate a method of social analysis that takes the technical aspects of the engineer's work to be profoundly social. By carefully following technologists, we see the kinds of social worlds, institutions, and roles contained in the machines they create. We also see the diverse objects mobilized to fit these conceptions. The technical thus is social.

Abstract: Validation of prediction models is highly recommended and increasingly common in the literature. A systematic review of validation studies is therefore helpful, with meta-analysis needed to summarise the predictive performance of the model being validated across different settings and populations. This article provides guidance for researchers systematically reviewing and meta-analysing the existing evidence on a specific prediction model, discusses good practice when quantitatively summarising the predictive performance of the model across studies, and provides recommendations for interpreting meta-analysis estimates of model performance. We present key steps of the meta-analysis and illustrate each step in an example review, by summarising the discrimination and calibration performance of the EuroSCORE for predicting operative mortality in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting.
