The metabolism of ethylbenzene and styrene to mandelic acid: stereochemical considerations.

TL;DR: Results show that whereas only the R-enantiomer of mandelic acid was excreted after ethylbenzene exposure, the mandelc acid formed from styrene was essentially racemic, and the implications for the biological monitoring of workers occupationally exposed to stryrene and/or ethyl Benzene are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chiral γ and δ Hydroxysulfones via lipase catalyzed resolutions - synthesis of (R)(+)-4-hexanolide and (2R,5S)-2-methyl-5-hexanolide using intramolecular acylation

TL;DR: Lipas PS-30 was found to be an effective catalyst for enantioselective transesterification of a number of racemic γ and δ hydroxysulfones with isopropenyl acetate in ether as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enantioselective trimethylsilylcyanation of some aldehydes catalysed by titanium alkoxide–chiral dialkyl tartrate complexes

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Sharpless catalyst consisting of titanium tetraisopropoxide [Ti(OPri)4] and chiral diisopric tartrate (DIPT) was used for trimethylsilylcyanation of benzaldehyde.
Journal ArticleDOI

First total synthesis of longimicin D

TL;DR: The bis-THF core bearing congested stereocenters was constructed by as mentioned in this paper by using asymmetric alkynylation with the C4 unit and stereodivergent THF ring formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetic resolution of 3-tbutyl and 3-phenyl cyclobutylidenethanols through lipase-catalyzed acylation with succinic anhydride.

TL;DR: Optically enriched (3-t-butyl) and (3phenylcyclobutylidene)ethanols were obtained through kinetic resolution of the racemates by lipase-catalyzed acylation with succinic anhydride; the procedure was of practical use and does not require a chromatographic separation as mentioned in this paper.
