Abstract:
(11) Potassium ferricyanide has previously been used to convert w'c-1,2-dicarboxylate groups to double bonds. See, for example, L. F. Fieser and M. J. Haddadln, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 86, 2392 (1964). The oxidative dldecarboxylation of 1,2-dlcarboxyllc acids is, of course, a well-known process. See Inter alia (a) C. A. Grob, M. Ohta, and A. Weiss, Helv. Chim. Acta, 41, 1911 (1958); and (b) E. N. Cain, R. Vukov, and S. Masamune, J. Chem. Soc. D, 98 (1969).read more

Synthesis of positional-scanning libraries of fluorogenic peptide substrates to define the extended substrate specificity of plasmin and thrombin.
TL;DR: A tetrapeptide positional library in which the P1 amino acid is held constant as a lysine and the P4-P3-P2 positions are positionally randomized was synthesized, which was used to determine the extended substrate specificities of two trypsin-like enzymes, plasmin and thrombin.

Big Data from Pharmaceutical Patents: A Computational Analysis of Medicinal Chemists’ Bread and Butter
TL;DR: This study used a sophisticated text-mining pipeline to extract 1.15 million unique whole reaction schemes, including reaction roles and yields, from pharmaceutical patents, and found that today's typical product molecule is larger, more hydrophobic, and more rigid than 40 years ago.

Fluorimetric evaluation of the affinities of isoprenylated peptides for lipid bilayers.
TL;DR: A fluorescence-enhancement assay has been used to monitor the association of a series of fluorescent isoprenylated di- to tetrapeptides, whose sequences represent the carboxyl termini of several isopranylated proteins with phospholipid vesicles, and suggests that a C-terminal geranylgeranylcysteine or O-methylated farnesyl Cysteine residue can by itself confer efficient membrane binding to proteins bearing these modifications.

Chirale Alkoxytitan(IV)‐Komplexe für enantioselektive nucleophile Additionen an Aldehyde und als Lewis‐Säuren in Diels‐Alder‐Reaktionen
TL;DR: A number of chiral 1,2-1,3 and 1,4-diols were prepared and used as alkoxy ligands on Ti for enanti-lective nucleophilic transfer of methyl, butyl, cyclopropyl, allyl, alkinyl, and phenyl groups to aromatic aldehydes, as well as for the enantioselective[4+2]cycloaddition of acrylate to cyclopentadiene as discussed by the authors.

Analgesic activity of Psychotria colorata (Willd. ex R. & S.) Muell. Arg. alkaloids
Elaine Elisabetsky,Tânia Alves Amador,Ruti R. Albuquerque,Domingos Sávio Nunes,Ana do C.T. Carvalho +4 more
TL;DR: The Naloxone reversible opioid-like analgesic activity of alkaloids present in leafs and flowers of P. colorata is reported, which is similar to that of morphine.
